3. [Clan CAMPBELL] Campbell of Auchanellan [0.991916]
To all subscribers: My anscestor was Dugald Campbell of Auchanellan (eldest son of patrick C). He was minister of Glassary in Argyll, Scotland from 1779 to 1826. According to 'Burkes Landed Gentry' the Campbell's of Auchanellan sprang from John, Rector of Kilmartin who was the fifth son of Sir Colin Campbell of Lochawe. I have read in the Statistical Account for Kilmartin parish that this Campbell family had a right to use the buriel place of the 'rectors' in the churchyard of Kilmartin. I was wonderin
4. [Clan CAMPBELL] Free DAR Lookups for Revolutionary War patriots [0.991916]
Dear All: Some volunteers from the society of the Daughters of the American Revolution ( DAR) have established a wonderful new program for users of Rootsweb. These volunteers will do lookups in their database and records if you think one of your ancestors served in some capacity during the American Revolution. These volunteers have more databases that are available to them than the ones commonly used by the search engines. The process is fairly simple : Go to the DAR message board: There are two ways to

6. [Clan CAMPBELL] FW: Court of the Lord Lyon [0.991916]
Dear All: There have been many questions on which Clans are here on the message boards and mailing lists. Those questions are very much on point. I would like to see more discussion on each of these message boards and mailing lists about the aspects of Clans and Septs. We just need to make sure it stays friendly and doesn't go political on us ( which in this case would be easy to do :-) Certain Clans had some privileges as to their rights under the reign of each King of Scotland. There are some
7. [Clan CAMPBELL] Dates in History [0.991916]
Dear All: Some dates of yesteryear: This Week in History A list of anniversaries of historic events for the following week used to appear in this section. After 15 months, it was discontinued as mainly the same dates were appearing again. But by popular request, the series will be resumed. Here are the anniversaries for next week: February 17 1545 - Battle of Ancrum Moor in which Scottish forces, led by Earl of Douglas, defeated an English army twice their size. February 17 1688 - Jame

11. [Clan CAMPBELL] IGI Database search for the UK [0.991916]
Dear All: There is a IGI search program for the UK. This has been introduced yesterday. I checked it out today and it works fine. It allows you to search the IGI by parish and returns ALL the IGI records for that surname in that Microfilm. It covers both birth and marriages. It obviously took a lot of work to develop and cross\ index the IGI records by Parish in a database. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm#Page Best Regards John A Hansen Admin

Hello Listers, I am looking for my GGGrandfather, Joseph Campbell believed to have been born 24 May 1863 (of course, it could be a few years each side). I am also curious as to the many possible reasons why he left Scotland. Any help at all is appreciated. Thank you, Carol Campbell Wyatt

I DON'T KNOW ANY OF YOUR LINE, BUT YOU MIGHT CONSIDER CHECKING THE SHIPPING LISTS. ALSO, MANY OF THOSE WHO CAME TO AUSTRALIA WERE PRISONERS (NOT ALWAYS BADDIES, SOMETIMES IT WAS FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM), A GOOD PLACE TO START ARE LISTS OF THOSE WHO WERE DEPORTED TO AUSTRALIA. YOU MIGHT ALSO FIND SOMETHING IN CENSUS RECORDS OR BY CHECKING FOR INFORMATION ON ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER. WHEREEVER POSSIBLE, USE THE COPIES OF THE ORIGINAL RECORDS AS ABSTRACTS OFTEN HAVE MISTAKES OR FAIL TO INCLUDE INFORMATION THA
