My anscestor was Dugald Campbell of Auchanellan (eldest son of patrick C). He was minister of Glassary in Argyll, Scotland from 1779 to 1826.
According to 'Burkes Landed Gentry' the Campbell's of Auchanellan sprang from John, Rector of Kilmartin who was the fifth son of Sir Colin Campbell of Lochawe.
I have read in the Statistical Account for Kilmartin parish that this Campbell family had a right to use the buriel place of the 'rectors' in the churchyard of Kilmartin. I was wonderin

Some volunteers from the society of the Daughters of the American Revolution
( DAR)
have established a wonderful new program for users of Rootsweb. These
volunteers will do lookups in their database and records if you
think one of your ancestors served in some capacity during the
American Revolution. These volunteers have more databases that are
available to them than the ones commonly used by the search engines.
The process is fairly simple :

I'm just beginning my search for my grandparents line that comes from Scotland. I have managed to follow my fathers Canadian side and now I am venturing over seas. However, I am finding this to be a whole new challange. The information I have is that they came to Canada on the RMS Aquitania in 1948.

There have been many questions on which
Clans are here on the message boards
and mailing lists.
Those questions are very much on point.
I would like to see more discussion on
each of these message boards and mailing
lists about the aspects of Clans and Septs.
We just need to make sure it stays friendly
and doesn't go political on us
( which in this case would be easy to do :-)
Certain Clans had some privileges as to their
rights under the reign of each King of Scotland.

A list of anniversaries of historic events for the following week used to

Hello All,
I am researching Jean CAMPBELL br. abt. 1779 married to Hugh DUNBAR.
I have hit a wall here. Hugh and Jean are listed on my GGGrandfather's marriage cert. as his parents but I have been unable to find them or him in OPR or LDS records.
I have found all of their children listed in Stirlingshire but not
my GGGrandfather who would have been their 1st br.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Betty

Dear All:
There is a IGI search program for the UK. This has been
introduced yesterday. I checked it out today and it
works fine.
It allows you to search the IGI by parish and returns
ALL the IGI records for that surname in that Microfilm.
It covers both birth and marriages.
It obviously took a lot of work to develop and cross\
index the IGI records by Parish in a database.

Hello Listers,
I am looking for my GGGrandfather, Joseph Campbell believed to have been born 24 May 1863 (of course, it could be a few years each side). The date 24 May is the only consistent date as well as Aberdeen, Scotland being the place listed as the birthplace.
He immigrated to Canada @1889. I am also curious as to the many possible reasons why he left Scotland.
Any help at all is appreciated.
Thank you,
Carol Campbell Wyatt

So don't open any URL's that you don't know.
The AV software programs may be late as well in
getting updates out quick enough. But at least
update your AV software 2 to 3 times a week for the
