To Pat Rabon: Have you found Stephen A. Clayton in any of the NC censuses after his marriage? Usually censuses are good for finding out kids' names. Also, have you looked for Clayton families in NC in the 1850 census, when Stephen would be abut 15? That would give you his parents, and if you're lucky, other Clayton relatives living nearby (sometimes grandparents lived with the family). My CLAYTON relatives are from Cherokee Co. N.C. My ggrandfather was Stephen A. Clayton b. March 10, 1835 d. Feb. 24, 1899. He fought in the Civil War, was wounded and recieved a pension. He was a Cpl. in Co. G. 39 GA. "Gilmer Lions". I don't know how many children he had. My ggrandmother was Roxie Clayton. Stephen is buried in Brasstown, N.C. I would like more info on this Clayton and any relatives. Pat Rabon
