Rootsweb is changing to new list management software! The change
may have already begun. To see the planned schedule see

Any differences you notice should be minor:
The "-L" is being dropped from the official list name, but you will
be able to both subscribe and post using the "old" name, with the
-L, or the new one without it. If you use email headers to filter

Does anyone have any information about a person named Mourning Coffin
(1812-1859) who is listed in the index for people who appear as a husband or wife

it planning to be online a'chattin' with Dick this Thursday. I hope

What is Domesday Book?
At Christmas 1085 William the Conqueror commissioned a great survey
to discover the resources and taxable values of all the boroughs
and manors in England. He wanted to discover who owned what, how
much it was worth, and how much was owed to him as King.
It was a massive enterprise, and the record of that survey,
Domesday Book, was a remarkable achievement.

Hi List,
If you're searching your Coffin ancestors in New England as I am
I'm sure you have heard of James Savage's "A Genealogical
Dictionary of The First Settlers of New England" more commonly
known simply as "Savage", and you've probably used it in your
search for New England ancestors. I've found many of my early
Colonial ancestors in that set of books. It's likely you used a
copy at a library, like I have, or possibly you own a set.
Unfortunately the set is again out of print, in paper version
New Genealogy E-Magazine: Digital Genealogist
The following is an announcement from Liz Kelley Kerstens:
Ancestry has discontinued its magazine Genealogical Computing,
effective with the July/August/September 2006 issue that is
currently in the mail. As editor of GC for the past nearly seven
years, I still believe there's a need for a magazine devoted to
genealogy and technology. To that end, I am starting my own
magazine later this year. It will be called Digital Genealogist and

Priscilla Coffin b 11 Oct 1765 was the daughter of William and Priscilla
(Paddock) Coffin. She married Asa Hunt on 31 Mar 1791 at New Garden MM,
Guilford County, North Carolina. Two of Priscilla and Asa's children were
Libni and Miriam.
Hope this is the Priscilla you meant. William and Priscilla were my 6x great
grandparents.
