1. Re: [COKIOWA ] Ferlen [1]
Nancy I don't know if the Colorado Historical Society provides microfilm on interlibrary loan, but they do have the microfilm - if you give them the date and name of the newspaper you might be able to get them to copy the article for you. Our library has a microfilm, but does not loan and does not have a printer. If you can't get copies from the Historical Society, I can handcopy the entire article for you (but the parts omitted generally are not very informational. Or I can see if I can get copies from the

Posted on: Kiowa County Co. Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Co/Kiowa/24 Surname: Ferlen, Ferlin, Farlen, Farlien ------------------------- Super thanks for connecting N.A. Ferlen of Haswell, KIOWA County, to our family. Perhaps we will find more connections now. If so, we can give much information on their Swedish roots.

Jackie-- Thank you! I couldn't agree more. I find it disgraceful that some people/firms are, essentially, "lifting" our heritage, which we wish to give freely, and selling it. I have spent money for translation work, document and photo restoration work, etc. I love sharing this with others. I hate the idea of someone else making a profit from what I wish to give freely. I subscribe to this list in the hope that someone will recognize the family I am trying to trace. I am looking for Nils Ferlen; my

5. [COKIOWA ] Interesting site [1]
Hi listers! For those of us tracing our roots, is there anything to compare to a photo? This web site is about recording "photo-stories", and I found it most interesting. Hope you all do too! http://library.thinkquest.org/C001313/fmain1.htm Jackie Wilson Smith
6. [COKIOWA ] FamilyDiscovery.com [1]
Dear List members, Recently I received an invitation to subscribe to FamilyDiscovery.com (original message included below). This site is rather disreputable and I'd like to explain why I say that: First, this site does not contain original data: it is in fact a "links" page to websites that contain genealogical data. Second, permission to link to those websites has NOT been obtained by at least 2 of the owners. I happen to be on 2 different mailing lists with the owners of websites that have been

Ruthanna! I'm stunned and thrilled! Thought I'd reached a dead end, but--and this is why we all need to keep the privateers at bay--another researcher came through! Yes, this is the fellow I've been looking for. His father was a real go-getter, in businesses in Lindsborg, Salina, Marquette, Sharon Springs (and who knows where else!) in Kansas. And that is exactly what I believed had happened...that he and his dad worked together, and that he pressed even farther west in their businesses. Do you know w
