I have been researching James Helms and Elizabeth Combs for sometime. They were married in Vigo County, Indiana in the 1830's and raised their family in Greene County, Indiana. Carter, Somehow, but no documentation, I had this Gladys being born (and died) in 1913...I guess she didn't die. Found this obit on the internet. Believe Gladys is the d/o Henry W Combs and Carrie W Combs. Henry is the s/o John Wesley Combs and Mary "Polly' Hogg. I found the obit of Norris K Combs of Pensacola, FL. Norris was the one that was mainly responsible for the publication of "Combses Genealogy" by Josiah H Combs. Searching for children of Hannah Combs Ash, married George Ash in Nelson Co. Ky in 1801.They later moved to Switzerland Co. In. I am an Ash descendant and have traced Evan Ash born 1802 back to Switzerland Co. In. Evan is my gg-grandfather. Some genealogist say Evan is the son of Hannah Combs and George Ash. All, I wrote some new software to build a web page containing SURNAME and LOCATION searches from a GEDCOM file. I would like you to check it out and let me know what you think. You may already know this, but there was a Benjamin Combs in Switzerland Co., Ind. in the 1820 Census of Indiana. Families often moved together. try Benjamin if you haven't already. Get the surnames of those their children married and see if they were nearby back in Ky. If so, they have been Hannah's in laws at some time. Cousins did marry each other back then, and families did migrate together. John and Nancy Harding Combs had a yet-unidentified daughter born. 1772. There was a Hannah Griffith b. 17

Kathy, I admin a couple of lists myself, and it looks to me like the reason you cannot get unsubbed is you are trying to do it when "replying" to a posted message to the list. It won't work! My Combs are from Henry County MO, William Harry Combs whose wife was Elizabeth B. were from Kentucky. Where in Kentucky I do not know. They came to MO in mid 1800's. A branch of them were in Colorado, Boulder area for a time.
