Michell,
T Col Percy Selby Cookson (1870-1940) was the son of Lt Gen James Gathorne
Cookson (1821-1900) and Julia Margaret Selby (1843-1917) who is on my branch
of the Cooksons. Percy's GF was Lt Gen George Cookson (1760-1835) ( my
GGGGUncle) and Margaret Remington (1785-1873) not GeorgeOsmond Cookson.
All the best.

It seems that some of my Cookson family were incorrectly listed as
'Coateson' in the 1901 England census.
Could someone kindly do a lookup on Elizabeth Coateson for me.

Hi all
After much searching I have found the father of George Osmond Cookson. His
father wrote *Companion to the Altar* (3rd ed. 1789), where the communicant
is given a private meditation of 159 words to fill up the silent pause
before the Consecration Prayer.
If he wrote 1 book, it is possible that he wrote others as well. Any
suggestions on how to track this thread?
Many thanks

Greetings Jackie,
I would be interested in trying to explore this family. I've been trying to
help a friend sort the identity of her 1762 John COOKSON, who may or may not
somehow connect to them.
There's a One Name Study of COOKSON. I've found some background information
via ancestry.com and genealogy.com and have some general additional
information from researchers who have helped me.
I'll post John COOKSON's family information separately, and meanwhile will
go back through my Penrith information f

Always interested in hearing from Cookson researchers.
I am looking for any living descendants of William Cookson b. 1817, Westmoreland. I have a good part of the line, but there must be some branches (brothers/sisters) that are still living in the UK.
The oldest William Cookson in my direct line data base i
