Michell, T Col Percy Selby Cookson (1870-1940) was the son of Lt Gen James Gathorne Cookson (1821-1900) and Julia Margaret Selby (1843-1917) who is on my branch of the Cooksons. Percy's GF was Lt Gen George Cookson (1760-1835) ( my GGGGUncle) and Margaret Remington (1785-1873) not GeorgeOsmond Cookson. All the best. Hi all After much searching I have found the father of George Osmond Cookson. His father wrote *Companion to the Altar* (3rd ed. 1789), where the communicant is given a private meditation of 159 words to fill up the silent pause before the Consecration Prayer. Henry Wilkinson Cookson (1810-1876), Master of Peterhouse, Cambridge. James: b. 18 Feb 1803 emigrated to America; d. abt 1885 John: b. 7 Sep 1804, d. Great Barrington, America 3 Jan 1857. Greetings Jackie, I would be interested in trying to explore this family. I've been trying to help a friend sort the identity of her 1762 John COOKSON, who may or may not somehow connect to them. There's a One Name Study of COOKSON. I've found some background information via ancestry.com and genealogy.com and have some general additional information from researchers who have helped me.
