While in Nashville, TN today I found an album of tintype photos. The
album is 5 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches in size, with a metal clasp for closing.
The spine is taped. The photos in the album are labeled with some
stating relationships. I could not bear the thought of someone
purchasing the album and removing all of the lovely tintypes and selling
them one by one.
I am searching for a direct descendant of Alpheus Tompkins and his wife
Rachel Miller. I would like to see this album returned to the family.

Edith,
I hope so too. I would like to find a home, for the album, with someone
who is willing to share the photos and protect them from harm.

Hi, Jeffrey,
Somewhere I did read that Joseph Cornell was supposed to be a
descendant of one of the Dutch Cornell lines. The one I would guess
at the moment is Thomas Cornell, b. 1699, who lived at Jamaica, LI
and had descendants later in northern Dutchess Co. where two of my
Canadian Cornell ancestors also lived for a short time.

I have been researching a connection to Cornell/Cornwell from the Oswego
area. No Egbert, however. Names include: John, Lafayette, Melvin, Hiriam,

Am having a problem finding Egbert Cornell/Cornwell's parents.
First record I have is 1860 Census at Town of Redfield, Oswego Co., NY and listed as: Egbert Cornwall (age 44) with wife, Theda I. Cole (1820-1865), Children: Elisha Etson b. abt. 1851, Eugene B. b. Aug. 1856, George b. abt. 1858. I have Eugene's records. A family member has told of a George Cornwell coming from Michigan to visit in Jefferson Co., NY. I believe my maternal grandfather was named after this George.

I've not seen. Perhaps copies can be found in larger libraries. By
now, it's probably a rare book.
More readily available is "The Builder" by Philip Dorf, Macmillan,

sellers for about $10 plus shipping, as I recall.

Think yourself lucky, Tom - my own line ends with my GGG-grandfather John
Cornell, born Saffron Walden, Essex c 1785, and despite (of perhaps because
of) Saffron Walden being the heartland of the Cornells, no one's been able
carry his line back further - although the

It is hard to miss the bronze statue immortalizing Ezra Cornell that stands

Hello, Dr. Huber,
My home is in Indiana, and we are presently enjoying (?) clouded
skies and 64 degrees with the possibility later of sun and low 70s.
Of course, you have it nicer, I am sure.
The Ezra Cornell did not, so far as I am able to tell, have any
Barker nieces or nephews. Children of his brothers would have been,
of course, Cornells. His sisters married:
Lucretia: Thomas Chace
Phebe: Martin B. Wood
Mary: Hiram D. Robertson
Deborah: James Wood
Jane: James Finch

Hello All,
Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone knows of the ancestry of
the following two famous "Cornells."
Joseph Cornell - Famous Assemblage Artist associated with the Surrealists. I
read a fascinating bio of him called Utopia Parkway - and I do mean
fascinating, I highly recommend it. In this bio, the author states that
Joseph is the third or forth Joseph I. Cornell in the line. Haven't taken
the time to trace him, but he was born December 24, 1903, in Nyack, New
York.

Readers,
I'm looking for someone related to or descended from the Cornells and
Westfalls in Livingston Co., MI who would be interested in a
collection of old family photos. A lady just contacted me saying she
and another lady rescued a number of them and would love to put them
back in family hands. These are families who were well described in
"Cornell Cousins" some years ago.
Please write me if you are interested or can give me a lead on
finding such a person. I'll be happy to tell you who are i
