1. [CON-GEN] Charles A'Lee/Mabel Rowe [1]
I am tring to find any information on my g-g-uncle Charles A'Lee. We know that he emigrated to Canada in 1923 with his Common-law wife Mabel Rowe. We don't know where he went or what happened to him after that. Charles was born in Lansallos, Cornwall but he had been living in Grimsby with his first wife Thirza Hubbard. Any piece of information, however small would be appreciated. Sue Dent (nee A'Lee)

10. Re: [CON-GEN] Parent's names on marriage certificates !!!!! [1]
Tina May have something to do with the name being so prolific and all listed are very different families...i dont envy you. I had a similar problem with my Thomas Richards, apparently there were one or two of them around the place (*G*) so I gave up and concentrated on other branches. No help I know, but just sympathise with your predicament!! Mick On a sunny Sunday with no Ashes cricket to watch....again! 8^( ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tina Russell" To:

12. [CON-GEN] St. Austell in 1830's [1]
Hello - There was some discussion on the list as to what St. Austell was like in the 1830's - 50's. From various sources, I believe the town of St. Austell had about 3,500 inhabitants, and the parish about 13,000. Mining had been developed into large corporate businesses, and that industry attracted many job seekers. Charlestown harbor was fully working, so there were many seafarers there. It had tin, copper, and china clay mining - and was growing quite rapidly at that time. It was quite a large pa

17. [CON-GEN] Hendra, St Columb Minor [1]
I wonder if anyone can tell me a little about a farm or manor called Hendra in St Columb Minor. I gather Hendra means 'old farm' in Cornish. It seems to have been a largish estate from at least 1851 to 1881 judging by the number of my KNEEBONE relatives recorded living and working there in the censuses of those years. A branch of the family came out to North East Victoria, Australia, after gold in the 1850's and one of the luckier ones built a large home there called 'Hendra' with the proceeds. Does a

I am trying to research the DYER families of Menheniot and Liskeard. With the kind help of Lynda Mudle Small I have all the details from the family grave in the Liskeard Wesleyan Cemetery. Also with the help of others I have some details of census results for the Thomas DYER families of my great grandfather and his eldest son Thomas and wife Eliza of the Tencreek Farm that is nearest to Liskeard. My own grandfather was only shown on the 1851 census so far, as he became a Wesleyan missionary and wen
