Anyone have a clue where Elijah Couch and Elizabeth Estep family is in 1880?
I've not been able to locate them using variety of name spellings. They
were in Owsley Co. KY for other years. Children's ages and names don't help
much for finding them.

Hi Liz,
I do not show a Huldah as daughter of Johnathan & Eunice Griffin. Their
offspring: Lucy, Hannah, Joseph, Eli. Johnathan m. 2nd to Eunice
Nash: offspring: eunice. m. 3rd to Mabel Cole Meeker - offspring: Molly.
Where did you see Huldah listed as daughter of Johnathan?

The last notes I sent were actually about Simon and Thomas Couch.
These are about Simon's son Samuel and his descendants, and I didn't put
the source in my notes, but will try to check if anyone needs it. I
suspect these are from "The History of the Twon of Catherine, NY" as
well. Sons of the Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution accept
that book as a source, so I believe DAR would also - it was researched
and compiled by one of their presidents.

Hope this might help someone who's looking for him.
Hi Gwen,
Would you be so kind to send lines of Eunice and Lucy. Would love to add
them to my tree.
Many thanks, Diane

I have a Benjamin Blankenship b. 1785 in VA and died April 1853 in
Bedford, TN. He married a Sarah Webb. I have nothing further on him,
but that is one Blankenship family that was in the general area you are
talking about - and he is from VA. The early Tennessee migrations are
heavily from VA. It is possible your Couch is from the CT Couches, but
I'd lean toward checking out Virginia first.

Hello Everyone and Happy new Year.
To the ones in Group 5
we have 14 Couches that are in Group 5
9 of the 14 have took the 25 marker test
Only 4 of those 9 match with what we thin The old Thomas in Virgina
should have been.
I would like to see the other 5 get raised to 25 marker and see if any
of those match up with the rest of us.
I would like to hear some opinion on this from some of you.
Also on the lines that don't apear to connect to anyone, if we got
another test even a 12 y test from another pa
If you wish to order your own DNA kit through Ftdna that is fine also
you can use this address also

at the bottom is a roder form and you can use a Credit Card.
If you wish to use a credit card this is where you need to go anyway.

She was born in Hyden Kentucky April 15, 1889, a daughter of William and

On Jan 13, 1907, she married to Logan Couch and to this union 15 children

Mr. and Mrs. Couch and family came to Hamilton 15 years ago in 1957, the

Forgot to mention FTDNA now has the test out to a 37 Y marker test.
But like our group 5 with 14 members in the same family Group,
If we all did not extend to a 37 marker I doubt if it would do much good,
But the ones with a 37/37 match has a 50/50 chance of a common ancestor in 4
generation.
I would like to ask each of you to send me your opinion on this. I am
willing to throw another 100 dollars away if anyone else is.
Robert H. Couch said he was going to go to 25 and we have another on at the
lab now
I did not know I had changed the format of any of the pages, Still the same
one that has been there all year.

Thank you Dina for finding this. Thought some others on the list might
like to see how this name is indexed at Family Search. Never would have
thought to look for that spelling! I haven't yet found the original copy to
compare badly spelled it must be :-) However, this is the family I needed.

Hi Diane,
I have encountered conflicting information concerning Jonathan Couch and
wife Eunice. One account shows Jonathan as the son of Oliver Couch (see
http://web.syr.edu/~rcranger/frost.htm) with children Joseph, Eli, Lucy,
Eunice, Hildah, and Mary. Another account shows Jonathan (son of Ebenezer
Couch and Anna Crane) with wife Eunice and children Lucy, Hanna, Eli,
Joseph, and Eunice. (see http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/simonc.htm).
Either one (or both) of these accounts is wrong or we are looking at
Does anyone have any information on JONATHAN COUCH who was living in Knox

Connecticut? The name Huldah Couch caught my attention. Rowland Blankenship
and Jennetta "Jane" Couch who married in Knox County, TN, in 1815 had a
daughter Phoebe Hulda Blankenship. Could "HULDA" be a Couch family name?
Also, living in Knox County during the early 1800s were Joseph and David
Couch.
Any information or thoughts on these men would
I just updated my DNA to a 37 marker test, it cost $59.00 to update form 25 to 37.
Is anyone in group 5 willing to waste another $59.00
Need someone to compair against.
What is your opinion on this,
this is suppost to be a 50/50 chance that you will match in 4 generation.
I don't think the 25/25 match was that had a 50/50 chance in 7 generation.
I think we now have 3 more 25 marker test comeing that should match in Group 5
The more we get taking the dna test the more that will start to come in
Hi Dave,
As far as I know, Huldah is not of our tree, but under Oliver. Have also

Bill,
I too am most proud of the information we gleaned from the DNA testing and
especially getting matched up with other Group 5 members. I do not
understand where you are getting that only 4 matched up with Ole Thomas of
Virginia.
I want to take upgrade to the 25 marker test but I really do not know how to
do so. I looked over the data we have but could not find a link requesting
another test. Please help me find this and I shall upgrade to a 25 marker
test post-haste. The knowledge that you and o
