Hello, This is probably a long shot but here's what I have on my husband's ggrandfather, Andrew Joseph Coulter. 1827-1905. (Everyone thought he was born in County Cork, Ireland. When I became interested in genealogy I scraped the gunk off of his tombstone and saw "COUNTY FERMANAGH". I have not been able to locate him there altho I have not really tried too hard as I am working on the German lines right now.) He and his brother, James (1812-1900) emigrated to Philadephia, PA circa 1848. Andrew

Hmmm. My gggpa was James Coulter married to a Julia according to their son Patrick's dc. In the 1900 census Patrick claimed to have been born in Ireland [most docs support that] and arrived in the US in 1840. I've been unable to find any records to support that. The first I find Patrick is when he signed up for the Civil War in Sept 1863 in Cairo Illinois. His unit was disenrolled in 1866 in Georgia. Other Civil War papers indicate he was in Philly in 1866, and then Northumberland and Schuylkill in the 70
