And as for the Crawford line, I am still trying to find information on
it. All I have is a William Calvin or Calvin William Crawford who
married Eda Cousins. And they had four children that we know of: Calvin

jun 1823 in Ohio. I do hope that there is a connection. Let me kno

Due to the response of my post regarding "bloopers" in the "Texas 1840-49
Census Records" I thought to try to present a little more info on the
statement. However, if this book is in your Public Library or if you can
get it as an Interlibrary loaner, I think it would be worthwhile to read
the entire book.
Mr. Ronald Vern Jackson, compiler of the book states in part "These
"bloopers" are nothing more than unintended mistakes, cultural phonics
and a host of spelling disabilities". He further indicates how

I'm looking for information on my Grandfather, Craven Allen Crawford, born
March 6, 1872 in Putnam County Tennessee. I've also seen his name as
Allen Craven Crawford. He had an older brother named John who moved
away. I have no further on John. My Grandfather married Ammie Louisa
Stogling Taylor on September 10, 1891 in White County Tennessee.
They lived in Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. He died on
February 22, 1941 in Hughes County Oklahoma.
I am new to the list. I am looking for a Vaughan/Crawford connection
some time in the early to Mid 1800 in Virginia near Mecklinburg.
The only information I have is a Colonel Crawford serving during the
French & Indian Was with a cousin John Vaughan Jr. John received a
degree in medicine aound 1800's so I assume he practiced medicine
during the war.
Also connected at this time were two other cousins; General William
Henry Harrison and Colonel Williamson.
I would apprecitate any help.

We use an older version of FTM that we like just fine and are in no hurry to
upgrade.
One of my husband's cousins sent him a file out of version 5.0 which our
version 4.0b won't open.
We asked him to convert to gedcom & resend, but guess he doesn't know how
because he hasn't.
Is there anyone out there with ver 5.0 who would let us forward the file (1700K
+), convert it to gedcom that we could read and send back the gedcom file to
us? By the way the main family names in it are Winters/Crawford.

OK, you have my curiousity up. Can you give us an example
of a "census blooper"?
=======================
I'm not sure to what she was referring, but I can think of
one census problem I've run into. It has presented only a
small barrier to my research but I feel bad that I don't
have access to the info.
The problem is that Benton Township, Cass County, Iowa is
missing from the 1880 census. The other townships in Cass
County are available. I thought I was imagining it

I want to know about my Crawford name. I live in DE. My dad was born
and raised in Fraserburgh, Scotland. His father was Walter CRAWFORD
born in the late 1800's early 1900's. He married Elizabeth RUNCIE born
around the same time. If there is a Crawford or Runcie out there that
can tell me about my history, I would greatly appreciate it!

Good morning, everyone. I just joined the Crawford-L mailing list, and I
hope that this posting isn't imprudent or rude.
My grandfather was Samuel Reeves Crawford. I know very little about him,
except that he supposedly came from Indiana, but moved to California. My
father, Samuel Richard Crawford, was born in California, but died in
Michigan. I myself was born in Syracuse, NY (Samuel Richard was in the Air
Force and moved around a lot) but I was raised here in California.
Anyone know anything?

I have seen some townships from one county's federal census
"buried" in another county's records.
=======================
I have seen that problem also.
The key to determining whether a township is buried in
another county is to search the census index (or soundex)
which is a cross reference to the original records. If the
index doesn't contain the family then its pretty safe to
conclude that the info isn't available anywhere in the
census including nearby counties.
Hello All,
Are you aware of this web site? I found it by accident while surfing the

Dear Crawford Researchers,
I hope you can help me find some of missing Crawfords! I have my great
great grandfather James Bowers Crawford, born October 18, 1817, son of John
& Elizabeth Bowers, in Calcutta, Columbiana Co., Ohio. I have been told the
family originally came from Virginia, descendants of Charles E. Crawford
there.
