The Mandic that you are talking about is living in Udbina. There is one home occupied in Mandic Selo but they are not Mandic. The Mandic you are talking about I met in Udbina and then he brought me to my Grandfathers home in Josani (Mandic Selo). He is my Grandfathers nephew. I had a guide out of Karlovac that took me to Udbina. It took about two hours of driving to get to Udbina in the rain. If anyone wants Tonja's information (guide) I have it. Her father is from the same region so she knew it ver

Bok Tat, you sweet thing. I appreciate the response to the post. The information on the dates for nobility will make an interesting addition to my writings of the history of culture, country and family, in addition to that which you have recently sent me, the map and images. You are certainly an asset to the list. Hvala Lijepa. Dobra vecxer. PEACE IN OUR TIME. Regards, Grayce >

I don't think that the listing I found in the phone book is the same one you mention living in Josane, which is near Udbina. Josane and Udbina are not in Karlovac County they are in Licko-senj county. Here is the one I found in the current online phone book in Karlovac County which is area code 47 MANDIC NADAMandic Selo, Mandic Selo 12(+385) 47 8923 178 Mandic Selo is only about 9 miles SE of the City of Karlovac, near Vukmanic. 16. Vukovik [1]
I have an Antonio Vucovik/Vucovic born Ragusa Dalmatia about 1823. He was a merchant seaman and came to Australia and perhaps jumped ship sometime before 1855. He married and settled in New South Wales. He anglicised his name to "Wolfe". He named one daughter Lucretia which may have been his mother's name. One son Alexander another Jacob, these may also have been family names. I have no idea where to look for information regarding Antonio and would appreciated some advice. Rosalie Raftis
17. Vidmar [1]
Doug: I noticed in your names researching that you have a Vidmar. My grandfather's sister Antonia Tadej married Frank Vidmar (1872-1931). I have not done much research on that line but did find that his parents were Andreas Vidmar (abt. 1837 - ) and Matejka Kauzlarich (abt 1839- ). Do these names connect to your Vidmar? 19. [CROATIA-L] re: Ervin/Irvin/Ervan [1]
A friend has asked if there was any way her father's family could have been from Hungary with a name such as Ervin, Irvin or Ervan. Her grandfather stated that he was born around April 1891 in Mahonoy City, Skuylkill county, Pennsylvania. A 1900 census shows an "Andree Ervan" and family in that area with their origin being Hungary. This family worked in the coal mines in Pennsylvania. She had asked me to check the film from Mrkopalj to see if any similar names were listed in those church records
