I have been trying to nail down my grandmother's (Anna PAWLAK b. 1892) place
of birth. The information on each document I have is different. I think
her place of birth might be Bukowina-Podszkle 4931 1948, Poland, 195.8 miles
SSW of Warsaw. I am looking for verification. What do you think?
Here is a list of the documents and the information:
1. 24 Nov 1903 Ship Manifest: Anna PAOLIAK, age 11 [1892], last place of
residence Bukaoczia Podskle, Ethnicity: Hungary, Slovak
2. 27 Jan 1914 Marria
Have you tried the Polish Genealogical Society of Connecticut and the
Northeast? Check on their website to see if your name appears in any of
their databases. On their website they have numerous cemetery
databases and some villages in Poland where many of the immigrants that settled
in the CT area came from.
