Hello,
Is there anyone with access to Milford vital records who could do a lookup
for me?
Archibald TIMMONS married Eliza F. somebody, probably in Milford in the late
1820s-1831. He was a silver plater and they had children William W. b.
1831, Margaret E. b. 1840 and Daniel L. b. 1847.
I have been looking for a marriage record for them for about 3 years and
have not been able to find anything in the 2 Texas libraries I can access.
Would really appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Lise

I have a LARGE 24x 18 inch photo of the group from 1923. I want to
share copies, but its too large for scanners and a photo shop wants
$200.00 plus!
Has anyone a suggestion?

I wondered if the person kind enough to have been doing lookups in the

I have several Cods originally from Jamaica BWI who leave wills noting
residence in New Haven or "just outside New Haven" and have yet to locate
their gravesites. These people were active in the area from 1800- about 1875
and had in-laws in the Foster family of New Haven one of whom was Eleazer
Kingsbury Foster who was active in both local and state politi

Hello Leslie, Bradley of course is a very common name along the shores of
Connecticut, especially in the New Haven area. If you were to cross the New
Haven Harbor from East Haven you would land in West Haven. In West Haven you
will find two historic areas named after the Bradley family, Bradley Point
and Bradley Rock, which are connected by a sand bar (at low tide). The
Bradley family lived there for several generations and ran a restaurant call
the Barnacle, the restaurant is now gone, (demolished

Grace,
Thank you so much for the information on Gideon and Nancy Bennett. This
information has helped me more than you can imagine. If you don't mind, do
you also see an entry for Betsey Bennett who was said to have married a Mr.
Blackman?
Thank you again,
James

Do most of you know about the CT look up list...someone to get it for you.
The Ct Society of Genealogy has a list of people willing to get the
certificates you need as well. They have at least one person in every town.
I use to do it for Milford.

Regarding the Hubbards, I just found out yesterday that I am related to this
bunch. I have a Martha Hubbard (1776-Feb 17, 1834) (of Haddam) married to
Hubbard Fowler Benton (Feb 1, 1801). They lived in North Guilford and their
children were:
Caroline married John Russel
Rachel married Alexander Stevens
Mary unmarried
Marcus Hubbard married Elizabeth Huntley
Moninia married Timothy Dudley
Clarinada married Samuel Heminway
Merrit Fowler married Anna Madeville
Martha married Darling Byington (These are my dir
I do my own research at the town hall or if before 1850 at the state library.
I know Jane Devlin's site and someone named Ray has a lot of records posted
and I am sure others as well. I just didn't keep track of them.

Sue,
I'd be interested in what the Waterbury book has on Elizabeth
Nichols' parents, since you asked! And could I talk you out of the page
number(s) so I can document this information? Thanks!
And to Barry who started this question -- I've been digging into this
family very recently. How are you related to this Wakelee couple? There
is a Wakelee website which has available for download the Wakelee pages
from the Families of Old Fairfield, which is where James and Ebenezer
were from. Go to http://home1
I have 2 William Spencer.Lt William Spencer b. October 11 1601 d May 4 1642.
William Spencer b. 1656 d. 1731.
Do you have anything on either of these 2 men?
Thanks

Dear Deb,
The GILBERT bunch was a pretty large family in New Haven. We could probably
see how they connect in the Donald Lines Jacobus work on Families of Ancient
New Haven" but I am not sure off the top of my head. Where did your Gilberts
live? Did they migrate away from New Haven? If I learn more about the family
in context of the politics of the day, I'll try to pass it on. Have you read
the snippet in the 1838 Gazetteer by John Barber--If I am remembering
correctly it mentions the circumstances of Capt
If you havent done so already I invite you all to join the CT-Census-Lookup
mailing list. There are great volunteers on it who will help you with your
census queries should you ever have one and the list activitely is
relatively low so it wont clutter your mailboxes.
The information is here:

In dealing with New Haven, you have to travel long distances because they
flatly refuse to do anything for you by mail or phone. You can't even find
out if the requested record exists.
The last time I took a trip to CT, I had the allotted time problem with
Bridgeport also. The rest of the surrounding small towns were absolutely
wonderful and very cooperative.

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has found any proof that any of the sons of
Caleb CANDE (1st), 1722-1777, were indeed, veterans of the Revolutionary
War. I am descended through his eldest son, Caleb 2nd of Oxford, who is
buried in Jack's Hill Ceme.
According to the Candee family history, by Charles Candee Baldwin on pgs
16-18, it was believed that all of his sons (Caleb 1st) were members
of the Rev. War, and that all his children were born as British subjects
(bottom of pg 17).
I have written to NARA on s
