There are some errors in the Robert Bradley information about the Bliss

would this time period be considered as Old Lyme or was Old Lyme a different
township?
I have recently looked at the LDS film 1311111 Records of BMD 1700-1921
I cannot find this particular marriage record on the film.
does anyone know where I would look for the original record? who houses the

Could someone tell me how I would go about finding marriage records for New

My ancestors Peter BRANCH and Ruth PARTRIDGE, both of Preston, were wed at
the First Congregational Church of Preston-Griswold Connecticut on 25 Aug
1765. The family apparently left Connecticut and moved to Vermont in 1783.
I HAVE located info on the following books published about that church:

with statistics of the church taken from church records.

Deb,
The New London Day is the local newspaper whose coverage area is the southern
half of New London County. East Lyme is part of southern New London County,
so is Niantic. There are no other newspapers that cover this area. A map of
Connecticut may help.
According to an old newspaper story, Lydia (Stebbins) LYON, wife
of Amariah LYON, was a member of Rev. David Jewett's church on
Raymond Hill. Time frame would be sometime between the 1740s
and the 1780s. Does anyone know if this church still exists? And
if so, what is the current name of the church? And have the
church records been microfilmed?
Thanks in advance for any information on the church or on the
family of Amariah & Lydia LYON who lived in the "North Parish."

There are two courses of action you may take. First, you can contact the
East Lyme Public Library (860) 739-6926 and ask them if they keep a clipping
file of resident obits. You may also ask that someone search the microfilm of
the New London Day for the obit and make a copy and mail it to you.
The second action would be to contact The Day (860) 442-2200 and request a
copy of the obit, but it may cost you a lot of money if they in fact do such
a thing.
Good Luck,

I'm researching my ancestor, John Green of Preston, Connecticut, who on June
2, 1724 married Mary Rich.
In searching through Preston, Connecticut land records, I came across a most
interesting deed, dated October 21, 1726, wherein John and Mary Green, along
with Samuel Rich, David Rich, Jonathan Rich, Timothy and Abigail Jerome, and
James and Sarah Tyler sold a fifty-acre tract of land. (Preston Deeds,
Volume 4, pp. 331-332). Going back through the Preston deeds, I found that

If anyone manages a suite of GenConnect boards, or recently has tried to
post to one, you may know that all the GenConnect boards are merging
with the Ancestry.com boards. RootsWeb assures us that access to the
boards will remain free to the public.
According to an announcement made today to board administrators, the
transition is now complete. However, both the link provided in the
e-mail message and the link from the Ancestry.com site are inoperable,
so I haven't seen the changes.
Thanks for your pat
I promised to pass along the note below, from a very nice person who
purchased some personal letters at an antique store and thought they
might be of interest to someone on this list.
Also, FYI, if anyone on the list has sent me any e-mail messages in the
last two days, they probably bounced. Major server problem, and I was
ultimately unsubscribed from all lists, including the ones I manage! If
you did sent a message that bounced, please resend!
If you need to contact Ann Bergelt regarding her note belo
Hi, I'm new to this mailing list and I am researching my mother's side of the family. My great grandfather was William Everett Jones, born October 10, 1873 in Ledyard, according to his social security application from 1942. This and the census records show his parents to be George Jones and Lucy Allen. The problem arises with the census record for 1880, it says that William was adopted. So at some time between 1873 and 1880 the Jones's adopted him. I have no idea from where he may have been adopted fro
Hi, Everyone,
This is a postscript to my earlier message about the GenConnect merger

The new message boards are a compilation of previous postings to

is not working, but we assume it will be soon. As I mentioned before,
