3. [CUL] Roman Legion [1]
I am researching the "lost legion" which purportedly decamped and moved North from Corbridge presumably towards the ANTONINE WALL and was never seen again. Where did they go and what happened to them ? I,m not talking about the myth "Eagles of the Ninth" that was too far South. Maybe they met their fate in the Scottish Marches ?? Can anyone shed any light on this legion / group of Roman Soldiers.? Thankyou. Angela

Hello migran@telia.com, In reference to your comment: h "The 1X Legio: Hispana: was originally brought over h from the Danube area of modern day Hungary at the h time of the invasion and served until its drubbing by the h Boudican forces. However, something catastrophic h must have gone on as it was one of the few Legions h that had to be totally reformed You are right in so much as they received a sound drubbing from Boudicca in fact all sources of the time and now will tell you that very few of the I

She married Joseph GRAHAM a miller at Askham, Westmorland in 1825 and lived for the rest of her life in Thornthwaite mill at Bampton, Westmorland where her 9 children were born. She died in 1844 shortly after the birth of her last child. Fo
7. [CUL] Graham-Coulthards [1]
Hi I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen unreliable descriptions regarding "relation to head of household". "My" Elizabeth Anderson was described as Daughter in Law (when she was the stepdaughter). Later on, as an elderly widow, she was described as the sister to Susannah Coulthard (herself an elderly widow). I think they were cousins, but just wondered if this is possibly another one of my wild goose chases...and I should just give up and collect stamps instead. NL Shann

13. Re: [CUL] Re: TETTMAR [1]
Hi Keith, It looks like there was at least one second marriage: Either Charles was married before and some of the children are from his first marriage, OR Mary was married before, and some of the children are from her first marriage. What about Joseph the "son-in-law" - why does he have the surname Tettmar also? Is he what we'd now call a step-son? Perhaps someone can look up Charles and Mary on the 1861 census and see they are in two different families then, and where Joseph fits in. Gail Charl

20. [CUL] Lochmouth/Lockmouth, Scotland [1]
Hello, Has anyone every heard of Lochmouth??? Richard Scott, my grt-grt-grandfather, died in 1874 and is buried at Collamer, New York. His tombstone indicates he was born at Lochmouth, Scotland. I was wondering if anyone researching families from Cumberland has ever heard of such a place. I ask this question on this site as Richard was from the Causewayhead, Cumberland, England area. I wondered if Lochmouth could have been a name the "locals" used, as I have had no luck finding such a place. I
