2. [CZ] VITEK [1]
Listers, My gg-grandmother was Marketa VITEK, born in Tlucne, Tlucne, Plzen, Austria-Hungary. I have found 2 Marketa VITEKs on the LDS Family Search internet site. One is born in 1792 in Tlucne, father is Frantisek VITEK. The other is born in 1803 in Tlucne, father is Jiri VITEK. Does anyone have any information on either of these 2 women or this VITEK family? 3. Re: [CZ] Baptismal Record Dates. [1]
My gr-gr-grandparents officially recorded their children's baptisms just a few days before they emmigrated in 1871. I don't know if they were (actually) baptised at birth or at the time the information was recorded. Apparently this (baptism) was enough to satisfy some requirement necessary for them to leave Bohemia. Since their children ranged in age from 6 to 29 they might not have remembered the exact birth dates. If my experiences with census information are similar then you should expect t
4. Re: [CZ] BAXA, CHVAL GENEALOGY [1]
Alan, I am not new to genealogy, but I am new to researching my Czech ancestors. I was wondering if the name BAXA and BAXY could be the same name. I am descended from Magdalena, the daughter of Vaclava BAXY, a farmer from Jezov. Vaclava was married to Majdaleny, birth name KALINOVE from Jezov. Magdalena BAXY married Petr KADERA, a farmer from Jezov, son of Vojtecha KADERY and his wife Markety, birthname VITKOVY from TLUCNE. Thanks. Ellen Soule Sneed >From: "Alan Sewell" >Re
5. [CZ] TINGER/TINKER [1]
Looking for the Surname Tinger/Tinker. My great grandparents arrived in New York @1870-they were 30 yrs old at this time. I believe he was a cigar maker in Bohemia-any hints on what directions to take? Have his naturalization papers but they are useless-no information there. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Hello from Hot and sunny Queensland (like 33centigrade) I now have the Denni Hlasatel list of names for their obits and to help repay for all the help I've received would be happy to look up names for people but reply direct to ozfch@gogo.net.au. 9. Re: [CZ] Pat, Debbie, Joe: Simek and variants [0.98281]
Hi, Listers. I agree with Joanna. But the Baca list casts a whole new light on this. I guess I could "buy into," as equivalents: SCHIMEK/SHIMEK/SIMEK/SHIMECK/SIMAK/SIMEC and SIMIK, with the first four a strong candidates, the other three as only maybes. The big problem is that you never know what was really "whole cloth" at the time the lists were made up. Many port clerks had warped ears, crossed eyes, and funny brain boxes--to say nothing of honest changes due to simply true transcription errors. Any

Maggie, How far back do the records at the cemetery go? I'm looking for information on Katerina Simek (Shimek), who died there in about 1866 when she was nearly 1 year old. Yes, I know it's a crap-shoot on an infant! Thanks, Pat

Joana . . . Thanks so much for sharing this information. It is fascinating. Do you still live in the Czech Republic? Forgive my ignorance, but can you explain what the Kladno Registers are and might they contain other information helpful to us? How would one access them? Vaclav FREIBURG, my husband's grandfather, apparently had worked in the iron foundry in Kladno, also, like his father, Augusta. We always wondered where he'd come by the trade. Exceptional first-person account in English on Czech military history in 20th century... General MORAVEC was the head of Czechoslovak military intelligence before, during and after WWII. His life story is filled with personal and military and political drama. He was involved in two major wars, minor conflicts, several coups d'detat and revolutions, including the Russian. He was three times in exiled, finally in the United States, where he died of a heart attack enroute to the Pentagon where his services w
