5. Re: [CZ] Death Certificate-mother's maiden name [0.981814]
This sounds like the son is confused at the time of death of his father and doesn't realize he is supposed to give the information on his father, not on himself. This is why 1st hand records are considered more reliable (when the individual gives info on himself) rather than another doing it. However I found one relative in law who gave his wife's maiden name on his social security application instead of his mother's. It would be possible if the name was Marie Novak or something common, but not Agnes Hal
6. Re: [CZ] Pravecek [0.981814]
Thanks Joe, I don't know if I did that or not. For a long while, some of the records, like my Dad's birth ctf. said Provacek until all the other records show correct spelling. You are right, possibly they spelled it wrong on immigration records. Janice

8. Re: [CZ] Zirovnice [0.981814]
Dear Mr. Kuncir, I do not find any town by the name of Seewura listed in Felix Gundacker's Dictionary of Bohemian Parishes in the Czech Republic. However, there is a town named Zirovnice. I will list below the information on it. Zirovnice (German name Serowitz) kept its records in Zirovnice. They are stored in the Trebon Archives and begin in 1685. The judicial district is Kamenice nad Lipou. Is it possible that your Seewura is Serowitz? This information is found in Felix Gundacker's books: Di

Hi Mary, Could you please look up the towns Voseny or Volesny and Naczeradec? On a christening document there was a comment on a page that stated that Naczeradec was near Benesov? 14. Re: [CZ] Reasons for emigration [0.981814]
One of the best books is: To Reap a Bountiful Harvest by Stepanka Korytova-Magstadt, Rudi Publishing, Cedar Rapids, IA., 1993. ISBN: 0-9452313-09-3 (hardcover) or 0-9452313-07-7 (pbk). Another book with probably more documentation is: History of Czechs in America Translation of Dejiny Cechuv americkych by Jan Habenicht and published in 1904. Foreword to the English edition by Paul M. Makousky. Translated by Miroslav Koudelka, St.Paul, MN, Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International, c1996, 581p.
