I am still a newbie when it comes to using Clooz. I was going along nicely entering baptisms and finally got tired of them. I switched to Cemetery Records/Headstones.
I opened Documents and selected the tombstone icon to go to a burial record. I entered the record information and went to link my people. I did a search on the ID number and got my person. When I clicked on the link button, I got the following popup box:

Is there a clooz archives? I looked at the clooz website and at

I have been cutting and pasting from genealogy program to Clooz. As far
as I know Clooz supports the "highlight, CTL-C (to copy), CTL-V (to
paste). I have had no problem doing it so far.

Hi, Colleen-
I just open the program I use for genealogy and look at the John Smiths
until I find the one with the right birthdate. Then, back to Clooz to
the right one with the same birthdate.
Hope it helps you. jane
I originally imported all of the persons in my Legacy 4.0 file into CLOOZ.
Now I have added more people to the Legacy file and wish to import them into
CLOOZ. If I do the normal import procedure will it export the entire Legacy
file overwriting names that already exist in the CLOOZ file and add the new
persons?
Thanks to anyone who can answer this question

Thanks for the comments. I think I will go ahead and make a new John Smith
in Clooz and not add him to my genealogy program until I can figure out
which one he is or better identify him.

Dear Jerry,
The main reason that I bought and use clooz is the fact that I can put
anybody in the program who may or may not turn out to be a relative. I
do not want to "dirty up" my genealogy program with persons who may not
be related.

Jerry, there's a role spot in the document detail screen for roles such as
Sponsor. That's where that data goes. And I disagree with keeping your data
cleaner in Clooz. That's actually one of the strenghths of Clooz is that
you can fill it with all sorts of people to try to figure out who they are,
so you can keep your genealogy program cleaner. Once you figure out who
someone is, you can add them to your genealogy program. Clooz doesn't care
about relationships, just people in documents, and by keepi

See if you have other types of records that you want to add, then alternate
with the census records or as someone else suggested work back and forth
with your genealogy program.

Hello All
I have just started using Clooz. I started by putting in my baptism records. I have a question regarding linking the sponsors. How are others handling sponsors with duplicate names? EX: record shows John Smith as a sponsor. When I look in my genealogy program I find 3 John Smiths who are all approximately the right age bracket.
I could: 1) Not link to any sponsors or 2) just randomly pick the one I think is most likely.
What are others doing with situations like this?
Thanks
Colleen
I would think you would make a 4th John Smith - with no personal ID number.
Then, if you ever figure out which one he is, you can merge/change.
That would be my idea.

Clooz can't change the working directory to:
'::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}.' Verify that the drive is
valid and the path is 260 characters or less in length
What does this mean? Help??
Colleen,
If you are not sure, you can always list him as a sponsor in the remarks
area of the baptism document as unidentifiable. Later, if you find that one
of the other John Smiths in your database is the sponsor you can always link
him and adjust the remarks area. I wouldn't put someone in your Clooz
database that is not in your main genealogy darabase. It keeps every thing
cleaner.

Dear Colleen,
I do what Carolyn suggested which is to have a new John Smith until you
can be sure which one it is. I usually put something in the personal ID
number such as Baptism or funeral or marriage. Something that indicates
where I found him.

I haven't used Clooz in sometime and I just entered in a census and it
wouldn't let me click on the details section of the census and now I
can't open that census nor can I delete it to re-enter it.
Also, is there a way that I can enter in census records without entering
in a person? I am trying to create a database of censuses for the
people that have the same last name as that I am researching and I
always have to enter in the person as a separate person.is there anyway
to get around this?
Please
If you import everyone again from Legacy, you'll have duplicate people
because Clooz can't tell that the people are the same. I recommend that you
instead only import those people that you've added since you imported into
Clooz. Alternately, for the future, you can add them to Clooz and your
genealogy program at the same time. That's how I keep up with them.

Tanya, technical support is available free from me at clooz@clooz.com. This
list is for helpful suggestions in using the program.
When did you get this message? Were you trying to create a database? If so,
it means that the path to where you're storing the database is too long.
You need to store your database in a folder that's shorter and more
intelligible.
