2. Cyndi's List - New Sponsor, New Address, New Graphics! [1]
Hello all - I'm very pleased to announce several exciting new happenings on my web site. Cyndi's List now has an official sponsor! Sierra, the developers of a great new genealogy software program for Windows titled "Generations Deluxe," has offered to sponsor my web site and help me make improvements and enhancements that I would never be able to do on my own personal Internet account. I have often received questions from visitors to the site asking, "Why don't you have . . .?" or "Why don't you add thi

4. Virus Hoax Chain Letters [1]
>There's yet another chain letter running through the lists. >This one is about a virus supposedly named Join The Crew. >Cyndi has sites posted in her list for info about virus hoaxes and urban >legands, if you want to get more information. > >Diane Hettrick >dhettrick@earthlink.net Hi Diane & all - This is probably a good time to post my "canned" answer regarding virus hoaxes. I get several messages a month from well-meaning friends online, so I wrote this to help stop the spread of these nuisan
5. Questions regarding the new address, etc. [1]
Hi all - I thought I'd take a quick minute to answer a few questions I've gotten in regard to the new address and new sponsor for the web site. 1. My e-mail address is staying the same for now: cyndihow@oz.net 2. I set up forwarding web pages at the old addresses. These pages list the new addresses and automatically forward you to the new page if your web browser permits it. The forwarding pages will remain online for a year or so. 3. I have updated my URL with each of the major search engines, so t
6. My speaking schedule [1]
Hello all - This is just to let you know that I have a new web page online: Cyndi's Speaking Schedule http://www.oz.net/~cyndihow/speaking.htm I created this page in response to the many people who have expressed an interest in learning about my speaking schedule. It contains a list of dates, times and places at which I will be giving presentations on using the Internet for genealogical research. I've already learned that while the California group is glad I'm coming, they're extremely disappointed th
7. Internet Stuff You Need to Know [1]
Hi all - I created a new web page today: Internet Stuff You Need to Know http://www.CyndisList.com/internet.htm This is in response to a lot of the e-mail I have received lately. There have been several virus hoaxes making their rounds again, along with several e-mail chain-letters, etc. I've also seen a lot of concern expressed over spam, as well as misunderstandings about what constitutes spam in e-mail. I had several relevant bookmarks hanging around that I was sharing with people and today it daw
8. FW: Genealogy Dispatch from Sierra [1]
Hi all - Below is tonight's note from Sarah Ford at Sierra which was sent to the Generations mailing list. The note contains a copy of the press release from Sierra regarding their sponsorship of my site. I thought you might like to see what the "official" word is regarding all this. You can learn about the Generations mailing list and the new software program on their web site at: http://www.sierra.com/titles/generations/ I've already heard from many people that say the site is loading much more quickl

10. "No-Frills" Category Index [1]
Hi all - One of the nice things about having a new sponsor and having tons of server space at RootsWeb, is that I can expand the site a bit and add new things that I couldn't add before. On my personal account at Oz.net I am limited to 5MB of server space. For quite a while this was plenty of room for the list, but for the last several months I had to be careful about adding new things to the list. I usually weighed out the pros and cons before making any changes and tried to keep things simple without a
