Hello, Do you know more about when he emigrated ? (Year) His fathers name is most likely Niels Christian Petersen and his mother Caroline. I'm not sure about Rigma, but it could be the first name Rigmor. Hi Jette - would you or anyone else on this web be able to help me with my Danish family. My great grandfather Hans Friedrich Ludwig PETERSEN and his wife Dorothea Maria Catharine (JOHANNSEN) came out to New Zealand approx 1876 and settled in Orari close to Geraldine - nothing is known of their past histories in Denmark. They wrote back to my grand parents Mathias Christian JOHANNSEN and Caroline Christina (PETERSEN OR HENNINGSEN - think Petersen was her step father) telling them what a great pl

Hi Ted In a period from 1864 till 1920 that part of Denmark was German (we lost Slesvig and Holstein to the Germans in a war). But in 1920 there was a referendum in the "old" Danish area if they wanted to be a part of Germany or a part of Denmark. Slesvig and Holsten was divided into 3 parts and only the northern part "Nordslesvig" including Txnder chose the Danish solution. That means that all information about them is located in Germany for the years 1864 - 1920. Txnder is now Danish - S|derl|gum just so

I have just searched the church book for Hans. The mother is Caroline Marie HANSEN and the father's last name is Therkelsen - the Thorkildsen in the list of departures must be a reading or writing mistake. Hans is born 9. November 1872 and baptized 26. December 1872 in As parish, Bjerre district, Vejle county. Hullo Listers, i am looking for THERKLESON's. My Great Grandfather Jacob Therkleson came to New Zealand from Denmark with his wife Caroline Hansen in the late 1800's. I have been able to track down all the New Zealand Therklesons, now i am looking for his origins in Denmark. Would be keen to hear from any Therklesons out there. Keen to learn more about the Therklesons of Denmark. Looking forward to hearing from you. John Connell Wellington New Zealand -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked

John, May I suggest that his name in Denmark would have been Jacob Therkelsen -- and that he changed it to the English way of spelling in NZ -- to Therkleson.
