1. [Dan-Sur] HARSDORFF Surname [1]
I have seen the HARSDORFF name in both German and Danish records. Does it have origins in both countries? My great great grandfather was Friedrich Christian Harsdorf and my great great grandmother was Caroline Grashof Harsdorf. Our name has been spelled Harsdorff, Hasdorff and Hesdorff. Is there anyone researching the HARSDORFF name? Thank you, Ron Hesdorff tylerfh2000@aol.com San Antonio, TX

Ron, I am not searching your family name but answering about the Danish-German origins. One of the possibilities is that the family lived near a border between Germany and Denmark. That border was moved back and forth a few times so even if you never moved if you had 5 children you could have 2 children born in Denmark and 3 born in Germany. Another possibility is that both countries are small compared to the U.S. and members of the family could of moved from one to the other. Carolyn SYNDERGAARD
