The records for Old Swedes Church are available at www.ancestry.com as a

In an old Swedish homestead, which was moved to Old Swedes and renovated,
they have lots of information, and the people there are wonderful. The
house, Hendrickson House, houses a big book of names of people buried in the
graveyard. Someone at Hendrickson House should be able to help you.

Am hoping someone can help. I am looking for help with my BIRD
family. Jacob BIRD (b. abt. 1748) married in 1773 to Rebecca JUSTICE
(JUSTIS). She was the daughter of Anders and Maria (SEEDS) JUSTIS of the
JUSTIS/WALRAVEN connection to the Old Swedes Church. Jacob and Rebecca's
son William married a Naomi. Their daughter Jane Anna BIRD married Thomas
MCBRIDE. I started my research 25 years ago with Thomas and Jane
MCBRIDE. I have found their burial place at the Union Cemetery in
Wilmington but
Hi Jane.......
As far as I know the book is still for sale.......but maybe through a place
like Higginson (where I bought mine a couple of years ago)......they deal in
out-of-print books. I had to wait about 4 months to get my copy (they had to
print it). But the records only go up to and including 1799.
If I could find the right catagory on eBay, I'd put mine on there.....I
believe I have found everyone I was looking for. And I need to make room for
some of the newer books I've been buying.

March I obtained a copy of the marriage record for William VERDEMAN (sic) and
Magdalena PETERSSON, 21 April 1720. Also I obtained a copy of the birth and
baptism record of 23 March 1724 for Maria, child of Wiljam VERDEMAN and
Magdalena.
He is the son of John Wilhelm Vardeman, the immigrant from Sweden, and a
common ancestor to many of us.
Also, I found in "The Index of Baptisms to Old Swedes records for 1700 to

You did not say anything about migration. How about the younger generations?

Barbara, Could you tell me about the book "Records of Old Swedes Church"?
Is is available for purchase? My grandfather, William S. Rushton, was buried

This site lists the book for sale as used and new. It can be purchased at
the Church also as someone else noted. It can be purchased with or without
an Index, get the indexed one if you can - it is so much easier to use. Good
luck!

Susie, Many thanks for sending me the information concerning the records

Good Afternoon, I am trying to find out information concerning my
greatgrandfather, William S. Rushton and his son, Frankie. Frankie died in
1884 at age 7 months and was buried in Old Swedes Cemetery. His father,
William S. Rushton died on June 2, 1885. Both William and Frankie are buried
in the same plot. Would anyone be able to tell me whether Old Swedes has
records of burials and how I might obtain information on both William and
Frankie. Many thanks. Regards, Jane MacLachlan
I'm not sure, it may have been my request for a good shot of "William
Vandever's" headstone - legible or not. Also, I want a nice clear shot from
the South East of the building - this is where the Vandever property came to.
I could still use either shot.

Hello, Antoinette:
You are familiar to me because I read your exchanges with Donna Mohoney
recently. It was when I was copying some pages for her that I found Margaret
WERDEMAN. I have a gut feeling that she is a great-grand Auntie of mine. My
wild supposition is that she is a younger sister of William and John. I have
read that the immigrant Johan Wilhelm's wife was also named Margaret. I have
not found any other Vardeman family in DE. My group went to Newberry Co., SC,
then to Bedford Co., VA, th
Hi, I do get carried away - trying to answer e-mail in between cleaning
appliances to put back into the kitchen. The fridge/freezer I have to stand on a
step ladder to reach the top and want to do a good thorough job as it will be in
its own cubby-hole when put into place and I'm not going to be taking it
out much to clean the top. There will be a wall hung over it so won't have all
that much space. At my "older" age I manage to get one side at a time.
Back to the migration pattern. Prior to Hen
Susie: Thank you for such a quick response. I have not been able to find
anything on Margaret's ancestry. Period. Margaret & James son Henry. James had
a brother John who married Ingeborg Tossawa (Tussey for another spelling plus
others). John & Ingeborg had a daughter Ann/e/Anna. Henry & Anne married &
their son Henry Jr continues my line. So both Margaret & James AND John &
Ingeborg are both grandparents (x's) to me. If this does tie in with Margaret I
would like to "order/purchase" copies of the

Thank you all for your replies. Is anyone doing the genealogy of the Evans
family?
Vera

You mean the Evans family as mentioned in the previous query or Evans in
general?

I happen to have a copy of that page from one of my trips to the Family
History Center (a copy of the book on film is a permanent piece here in Las
Vegas), as a Van de Ver was married 9 days earlier. All I can do, though, is
confirm that marriage until I get back to the library, and the date you have
is accurate.
Linda, Thanks for sending me the information concerning the Hendrickson
House. I have been to Old Swedes Cemetery but it was a few years ago. I am
trying to trace my Mom's family and William Rushton was her grandfather. He
was killed in a train collision, he was the engineer on one of the trains.
Again, thanks for taking the time to answer. Regards, Jane
Maybe I missed the first mention of pictures of Old Swedes, but ther is an

That is a question that I would dearly love to have the answer to. Please post
to the list or e-mail me privately if you find this to be true. I am a direct
descendant of Margaret (Werdeman) & James Senexon (Sinex). I would also be very
happy to pay for a copy of the documents you stated having copies of - please
advise.
Thank you.

Hello
Can anyone with access to church records for the mid 1700's, let me
know if there are any listings for William Mardock, son of Michael Mardock
and Brigitte (Bridget) Springer. I have found data on two of their
daughters from church records.
