1. "The Wedge" [1]
We just put a few maps online that show the situtation in the area known as the "wedge". Some of these maps are from Ancestry.com and although we have modified them, the issue of copyright is foggy at best. We have written to ancestry requesting permission to use them, if in fact they are the copyright holders. But until we receive written permission from them to publish these online, we will not be linking this page on the main Delaware page. However, in our opinion, this group is more of a gathering of f

3. THE Wedge and surnames [1]
Perhaps like many others we have hit a brickwall due to the wedge. I have relatives PAYNTER and PYLE, I believe are indeed have records in at least DE and PA. I live in DE and will try to help with anyone looking for information from here. Perhaps others living in PA and MD will do the same. Historical Societies are charging $25.00 for a search, which is and can get expensive. If we all help one another, the cost for postage and copies are much lower. What do you think. Looking for Joshua PYLE in

8. Re: can you educate me? [1]
Dear Barb, We've added some text to the page of maps; I hope it will help explain the area to some degree. Let us know if we can clear anything up. Can anyone answer this? Debbie BTW, there are LOTS of new cemeteries at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/8074/stonecontents.html Is anyone interested in adopting a hundred? Tom Doherty had written to us quite sometime ago sugguesting this...it's a great idea if we can get some volunteers. If you would like to research(or already have) a certain area and become our "expert" on that particular place, let us know. If you need help with the html, or where to house your pages, we'll help. And remember,

11. someone's royal lineage web site w Mercy Davis [1]
I'm posting this one more time. Hopefully the owner of the web site I'm looking for is back from summer vacation and will see and respond to it. Not too long ago I came across someone's web site, and I am trying to find it again. I probably came across it in the course of researching surnames related to Chester County, New Castle County and Cecil County. Many people have both Pennsylvania and New England ancestry, as I do. This page mentioned a remarkable woman named Mercy or Marcy Davis, and g
12. Re: Boggs/Robinson [1]
I have a Sarah Robinson whose parents were Thomas Robinson and Sarah Sharp of Naaman's Creek, DE. She was b. 1745 and married Richard Peters of Philadelphia in 1776. I don't know of any siblings, though. This is also another of my mystery families. Being a Sharp descendant I would've thought I'd found something more much sooner, but alas, I have not. Erin Peters

17. Marriage Records 1861 [1]
Is it possible that anyone on this list might have access to marriage records for New Castle County Delaware for the year 1861. According to my g-grandmother's obituary (Mary Haley or Healy) she married John L. Higgins in 1861 in or around Wilmington, Delaware. They both came from Ireland and were Roman Catholic. If not, would anyone know the most likely RC Parish where they might have been married? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Kay
18. detailed 1868 map of the wedge [1]
There is also a reproduction of the wedge from the 1868 Beers Atlas on page 34 of the Delaware Genealogical Research Guide (see http://delgensoc.org/dgsguide.html). This is an up close and personal view which includes the names of the people who owned property in the wedge in 1868. The very bottom of the wedge is cut out in the snippet for the Guide, but the whole wedge can be seen in Beers Atlas. Unfortunately, I don't have the authority to put it on the web. ...Tom snip>>We just put a few maps online th
19. The Wedge [1]
C. Ross: Hey, thanks for putting links to my page on your New Castle Co page! I have a fairly new maps file on my site at http:www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/5127/maps.html that has an 1883 property map of London Britain that shows the Wedge, and who lived in it in 1883. I believe my ancestor William Smith owned several hundred more acres in Cecil County! By 1883 he was dead and James P and William H Sr owned his land. By the end of today (whenever Iget upstairs to the scanner) this map will a
20. "the Wedge" [1]
Sometimes I am slow: I just realized that if the Delaware border moved towards the south or east due to the entire arc that forms the state line moving because of controversy over where the center of the circle is that the arc is measured from, then people all along the western portion of the arc formerly in Delaware must have been moved into Pennsylvania and not only the poeple in the "wedge". This could explain for instance why some of my Quaker Thompson, Chambers ancestors I understood settled i
