Does anyone have record of a Hutchingson (or any variation of the
spelling) in Delaware early 1800's who had a daughter Elizabeth B. born
1818 DE. Something must have happened to this family and Elizabeth was
the only child or the only child left. She was raised by an Aunt Alice
who married a VanHorn. She was raised in the Carbon Co., area of PA.
Any suggestions or clues?

Does anyone know about a "Hotel Washington" that was on Main in Newark about
1880? Did they take houses down to build it? Was it made out of an old
house?
Do you know what type of houses would have been on Main Street around the
200 block at that time? Does 226 Main still exist? Is there a house on it?
Thanks
Rita
Good morning Walter,
Sorry, but I have nothing on this family.
Have you tried looking for them in the 1900 or 1910 Federal
Census?
The Delaware Co., Historical Society has the census records
on micro file.
If you don't live in the area you can check out the following
website for info on them:

You mentioned that some people think that if their relatives immigrated to
the United States they came through Ellis Island. I was one of those persons
for quite a while until I received some nautralization papers on my
grandfather and found that he didn't come through Ellis Island at all but
actually came to North America from Scotland through Halifax, Nova Scotia and
from there to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Friends,
Welch Tract is an Old School Baptist Church. We have several books,
including the copy of the transcription of the records from 1701-1739,
from which we have compiled a list of members names into a database for
that period. We do not have later years information but would be glad to
obtain it. I believe the church is still active. The stone/brick
meeting house has a patch on one wall where a cannon ball pierced it
during the Revolutionary War. The website for our information on this
church (
Helen,
I have copied the pages for you and will mail them out soon.

Brandywine High School is on Foulk Road, about a mile south of SIlverside.
Brandywine Elementary was across the street from the High School, now an
office or medical offices building. Arden is a few miles north-east of the
schools. My family home is at the top of the hill across from the High
school.

Hi all,
Published this to the List 2 years ago but it looks like another send is
appropriate.
Here is a link to a scanned image (222K) of the Beer's 1868 Map of
Brandywine Hundred which shows the names of the property owners outside the
town limits. Lots of familiar names on it.
Note: this is not a published link and cannot be found through the normal
Gorby Family website. It is not available to the general public.

Hi,
Gee Charlie, I really could not tell you why they traveled so far to get
married except they may eloped.
To find their marriage record -- if you know what religion they were
-- you would look for a church in Chester of that denomination that was
active in 1865-67.

Hello: I'm searching for any info about my William KING family who
lived in southwest Virginia from the 1700s till the 1830s.
A census report lists his birth in DELAWARE in 1779. There are many KING
lines in Delaware in the late 1700s, but I can't get a link to any of
them. I hope his children's names might give a clue -- Elias, Rosa
Ozina, Elkana (Elcana, Cana), Hiram, Jennie Margaret, Elihu, David,
Emily, Lucinda, John, Amy.
Thanks for any help. Nancy :-)
