Hi, I'm new to the list and seeking information on William J. Hurlock who was born in New Castle Co., DE, in abt. 1818. 3. Stidham/Stedham/Steadham/Steddom [1]
I am doing research on the Stidham/Stedham/Steadham/Steddom family genealogy. Most families today who spell their surname similar to one of the above are most likely descendants of the Swedish immigrant, Dr. Timen Stiddem (Timothy Stidham). Dr. Stiddem, born about 1610, was on the first Swedish ship to reach America in 1638. He was among the first Swedish immigrants to settle in New Sweden (now Wilmington, Delaware), where he raised a large family. Some families with this surname, however, may be des

Dear Brian, We're all new to this list...it's only a few weeks old. Rootsweb is in the process of making a search engine available to all of the smaller list's archives. All the posts are saved....it's just a little tricky to plow through them until there are more disks in the system......we'll let you know when it's up and running! In the meantime, please post without fear of replication.... And here is the URL for the Roots Surname list...if any of you haven't been there yet, it's worth a look.http:

For the next few weeks, Ross and I will do lookups in "Revolutionary War Patriots of Delaware" by Peden. Periodically, we will offer lookups in other books. Please put look-up in the subject line and limit your requests to two or three surnames. We will post the results to the entire group, unless you request otherwise. This will g
22. Re: Staats Family - Codrick Family [1]
Amanda, Your kind offer is welcome and accepted. I believe that a David Staats is living next to my Jesse Staats in Maryland in 1800 - He [David] is supposed to have married a "Letesha". Jesse Staats and David Staats could have married sisters, but I don't know how Jesse and David are connected by blood, which I am pretty sure they are. Who did Letesha Codereck marry? The Plillip Staats is probably a son of John Staats, the Rev. War veteran mentioned in the follow-up message from "Delwarrens"
