HI ALL:
Did a little checking last nite at the FHC, on the FamilySearch on
computer .. everyone may have this already, but here's what I found:

HI JAMIE:
Glad to hear you're doing better and all is getting back to normal!
My 10 yr old son fell from a tree last Oct. and broke his femur and was
hospitalized in TRACTION for 6 weeks!!! then home in a body cast up to
his chest for another 6 weeks, that was horrible!! It sure cramped our
style!!! I know how it is when there is a crisis in the family --- your
Priorities change ALOT!!!!
Glad you're back and that you're ok!
Hey everybody! GO CHECK OUT HIS WEBSITE!!! IT'S GREAT! I added my
HI:
IN RESPONSE TO ROBERTA'S request for help with this line ...... you didn't
put any DATES of when these people were in these places..... that would
help some.
HAVE YOU gone to an LDS Family HISTORY Center and tried to get some help
there, by using their FamilySearch computer?????? This would be a good
place to start. And also, ask them to help you look up these people in
their localities by using the FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY CATALOG, to look up
the PLACES!!
I am looking up some Dennis names , Emory
HI PENNY & ALL:
SAW YOUR POST .... I printed out a little bit of LITTLETON info, along
with the Donnoch info, from the FHC last week. Dont have in front of me
this moment, but will post it. Dont know if it will be any MORE than
you/she already have/has, but will send it along .... will try to get to it
today or maybe tomorrow .... but did see a couple of entries on DONNOCH

hi all:
I have had a little bit of luck tonite on a genealogy surname forum
someone ref'd me to..... you might want to ck. it out. It goes by surname ,
and you click on the initial you are interested in, and it shows TONS OF
SURNAMES, and posts from people on those names....with matching info, such
as dates and places, etc.
I had some good luck with it tonite, may have connected wth a couple of
distant cousins, so thought I'd share that info in case you want to ck. it
out!!
It's: www.genforum.com/surnam
>HELLO ALL:
I just sent Cousin Nina some info on WHAT TO DO IF YOU OBTAIN A
'SUBMITTER' NAME AND ADD. AT THE FHC THAT IS OUT OF DATE ......(the
address, that is....).
Thought my comments to her on it might be helpful to others, so here it is!
RE: SUBMITTER NAMES FROM LDS FHC ANCESTRAL FILE:

SEARCH for people, I can find someone if I really want to (and want to
spend the money, which I usually don't!!) ... but I've been lucky....th
DENNIS & ALL:
I AM SO GLAD to hear that the info I posted on DENNIS/POSEY connections
has possibly helped you some .... I had NO IDEA at all if this wd be of
interest to any one, but felt it might be helpful to someone ..... because
these names showed up alot, intermingled in Wills of Dennis' -- so I knew
they had to be either close close friends or some sort of relatives!
(Shows how impt. it is to not overlook all kinds of documents, and check
everything!! I just happened to check the MICROFICHE collec
HI ALL:
JUST a reminder to all: Don't overlook the LDS FHC, using the Ancestral
File, and obtaining the name and add. of the SUBMITTER of the 'entry'!! I
just went thru it again, on some lines I hadnt worked on in a long time,
and found several SUBMITTER NAMES and addresses...many were back into the
early '90's.... and lo and behold, got ahold of these folks by phone, and
they are COUSINS and glad to hear from me!!! We are sharing info, and have
found some new and great cousins who are also interested
HELLO:
Meant to add to my last post that it appears that JOHN DENNIS b. 1676
Somerset Co.,MD, would be the right age to possibly be a BROTHER (cousin?)
to my MARTHA DENNIS b. 1672 Charles Co.,MD.
DOES ANYONE HAVE Dennis' in CHARLES CO., MD ca 1672 who COULD be related
to my MARTHA and father John/Jean???
Oh, I forgot to post in last one:
THOS. REID COCKSEY (will) 1783, mentions ch., HENRY, JAMES, VICTORY,
SARAH, JANE, wife not named, Exec, wife and son Henry; wit: John Parnham,
Bennet Dyson and Fr
HI MICHAEL DENNIS & ALL:
Saw your post re your Dennis ancestors in OK>
As some others will prob. advise, the first thing to do is to PUT ALL
FAMILY INFO on a PEDIGREE CHART and FAMILY GROUP SHEETS for each particular
family group.
then, go BACKWARDS from there, with what you already know! And you know
enuf already to begin your search and prob. have some luck!!
Get all info you can from your parents and ESP. living grandparents!!
They have more info to tell you than they think!!
Then, get yourself t
HELLO:
This is for the man researching his MO DENNIS line .... looks like you are
stumped in the 1880s or so .... best time frame to look at CENSUS RECORDS,
at the family history center of any local LDS Church! don't overlook their
records, there are many and they are great!
You could be looking this family up on the Census of 1900, 1880, 1870,
1860, 1850, etc. But you should have no trouble finding members of this
family, and generations BACK, by looking at the above mentioned Census
records.... and C

RE COPYRIGHT LAWS and copying books ....
It's my understanding that if a book is pretty old, and has not been
copyrighted, or the copyright is not renewed (or something like that), that
it's Available to anyone to copy.....
Does this sound right???
Or, on the other hand, that anyone can copyright it, or certain people
may have the 'right' to copyright it????
anyway, I'm checking with the Allen Co. libr. abt copying a particular
GA county history book for me tha
HI ALL:
I agree!!! Do NOT buy that Dennis book from Halbert's in Bath, OH!
It's a scam and NOT what you might think it is.... it is a list of
Dennis' across the u.s., as dennis mentioned, and not even UP TO DATE!!!
I purchased a STEMBRIDGE book from them yrs ago, knowing basically what
it was ... I did not have the access I now have to the internet, etc.,
where I could get my own 'list' of names nationwide; and wanted to see all
the people it had with my uncommon line of STEMBRIDGE.
Well, I KNEW

You have been discussing the "DENNIS Genealogy" books. I have one named "The
Dennis Family" written in 1975 by the American Genealogical Research
Institute. I haven't found anything that fits my family but would be glad to
do any lookups if anyone is interested. There is info on family name and
arms, emigrants, earaly marriage records, s1790 census, patriots and veterans,
short biographies, place names and constructing your family tree.

It seems to me that someone in the last few days mentioned the
American Genealogical Research Institute. I don't find it in my folders,
but it sticks in my mind.
Heritage Press published "The Dennis Family" in 1975.
It is a good little reference book.
On pages 4,5 & 6 it describes 'Coats of Arms'. I have a coat of
arms hanging on my wall that is exactly like the one they describe. I
have had it so long that I don't remember where I got it. I may have
gotten it from the A.G.R.Institute or the publis
I have a copy of this book printed in 1987. It has the
announcement in it that it will never be published again.
I also have with this book an advertisement from the publisher
dated 1990 in which they say exactly the same thing.
Don't anyone fall for this kind of baloney.
I have said my TWO cents worth, Thank You/////Harold

While the list is on the subject of
Dennis books and Allan Co. P. Library. I have a copy of A History of The
Dennis Family they copied for me. I finaly found a copy while I was
waiting; they mean it when they say it may take 12 weeks. The book is of
value to someone starting AL,GA research esp. Dallas Co. and maybe to
others but is not a solution to anyone's research problem's. I have an
extra copy I will sell for what I have in it. I have to look it up but
it would be less thn 20$ with ship + handling.Thi
