Obviously the same in American as English law, granting legal protection to all individuals. (From Concise Oxford Dictionary:)
2. [DESAULLES] de Saulles trial [1]
Hi John, Yeah I know, I'm now back at work so the typing out has stopped temporarily. I'll try to get some more done soon! Do you want to know the result of the trial? I'd better tell you because there's still a number of articles until the result. If you don't want to know don't read on : ) She was aquitted and released without any punishment, she then got immediate custody of John Jr and later remarried in Chile. I haven't had any further breakthroughs with the de Saulles unfortunately, I'm still wa
3. Re: [DESAULLES] de Saulles trial [1]
Hi Rachel Thanks for telling us the result of the trial. I had half expected, from what I'd read so far, that she might have pleaded insanity and been locked up anyway! I do hope you get a satisfactory result from Paris. Keep in touch. Thank you for the pictures of your trip, I enjoyed looking at them. How wonderful to have been able to make the trip back in time to actually see where your DeSaules ancestors lived. Hi All In January I travelled to Neuchatel, Switzerland and visited the area where my Desaules ancestors lived. Pictures I took in Fenin-Vilars-Saules are on the Desaulles website at http://www.desaulles.com/f-v-s Regards John -- John Bennett (3rd Gt Grandson of Samuel George De Saulles, born Switzerland 1783, died London 1833) CHEDDAR, Somerset, UK Mailto:john@desaulles.com My "De Saulles" Genealogy pages can be found at: http://www.desaul
6. [DESAULLES] 1901 census [1]
Hi all At last the on-line census is up and running and I've spent a few hours hunting down our De Saulles ancestors at: http://www.census.pro.gov.uk I've located most of them and have census images for those shown below: If anyone is interested in where any of these people were on the evening of Sunday March 31st 1901, I would be pleased to supply the details: George (Henry) De Saulles Louisa De Saulles (nee Toy, indexed as "Laura De Saulles") Samuel (Henry) De Saulles (indexed as "Samuel DeSaulles)
7. Hello All and update [1]
Hi All It's been some time since there have been any messages posted here, but the research is still ongoing, albeit rather slowly at the moment! Thanks to Henri Dessaulles in Canada, the ancestry of over 90 per cent of the UK "De Saulles" and related families can now be traced back to some 600 years ago in Switzerland! I am most grateful to Henri for sharing this information with me. An outline of all this is on my website at: http://www.desaulles.com Since the UK 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1891 censuses
8. [DESAULLES] UK De Saulles in Royal Service [1]
Hi All I've just received a reply from the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle regarding our Ancestors Samuel George De saulles (b.1789 - Switzerland) and his eldest Son, George Frederick De Saulles (b.25/12/1823 in London). It appears that George Frederick had a son but as yet I know of none of his descendants, any help in tracing any would be most appreciated. 9. [DESAULLES] Rudolph Valentino and Jack De Saulles' divorce [1]
Hi All Further to Rachel's most interesting extracts from the NY Times re. the trial of Bianca De Saulles (who was accused of murdering her ex-husband Jack De Saulles), I've just found the following paragraph on the web relating to Rudolph Valentino, who it appears testified on Bianca's behalf at her divorce trial: ----------------------------------------------------------------- RUDOLPH VALENTINO - EXTRACT FROM BIOGRAPHY "1916 - Rudy at 21 Rudy testifies as a favorable witness in the divorce tria
10. [DESAULLES] Alice Denis de Rivoyre (nee de Saulles) [1]
Hi again, I'd just thought I'd let you know that I've been in contact with the University of Liverpool who hold the Rathbone Collection about getting copies of letters sent by Alice Denis de Rivoyre nee de Saulles (my ggg-Aunt) to the Rathbone family. Apparently they are related somehow and the letters contain family information. They've given me a rate for putting the letters on microfilm and sending them to me so I'll do that and let you know what I find (it would be interesting to find any links from

12. [DESAULLES] Reply from Bibliotheque Genealogique [1]
Hi again, I've received a response from BibGen and unfortunately it doesn't provide us with much more information than we already knew on the de Saulles family. It confirms what I had already suspected which is that my ggg-Grandfather Louis de Saulles was the son of Louis de Saulles and Sarah de Lescure who were married in New York City in 1806 but that is the only new information provided on the de Saulles (there is a fair bit of info on my ggg-Grandmother's family - Longer). So I'll keep searching and k

14. Welcome to the List and a Happy Christmas to you all! [1]
Hi Welcome to the De Saulles mailling list. I started this mailling list after many hours of searching for my own "De Saulles" ancestors on the Internet and finding very little indeed! Unfortunately a gap between the "De" and "Saulles" is not allowed by the rootsweb.com mailling list software - hopefully no members of the De Saulles family will be upset by this purely technical phenomenon. Samuel Georges(s) De Saulles (1789-1832), who emigrated from Switzerland to London was my 3rd Gt Grandfather and,
15. [DESAULLES] Charles Augustus De Saulles [1]
Hi All I recently received an Email from Glenn Collyer in Sydney, Australia who has been researching the "Saull" family. During his search he found an entry in the Victoria PRO records http://www.vic.gov.au/prov/UNASSISTED1.asp (search for de saulles) for what appears to be our Charles Augustus De Saulles, aged 24, emigrating to Australia in July 1853 on the ship "Sir Henry Hardinge". Charles was born on 25 June 1829 in Pimlico and was the 4th of Samuel De Saulles' 5 sons. This is most interesting a
16. [DESAULLES] Jack de Saulles New York Times Articles [1]
Hi John, I'm currently typing out the NY Times articles about Jack de Saulles to store in our family tree. Would you be interested in me posting them to the list? There's about 50 of them and some of them are quite long but it's not a bad read. I'd post them gradually as I managed to get time away from my baby to type them : ) I've also sent away for the Paris records. Cheers, Rachel.

Hi John, I've been searching everywhere for more information about Louis de Saulles and have had no luck. I have a copy of the 1850 Louisiana Census record for his family and it states he was born at sea which makes it pretty near impossible to track down where he may be from. I've found de Saulles records in a Paris Family History Library, (you can find the record by searching at www.geneanet.org) I'm going to write to them to see if I can't get a copy of any relevant papers. Hi Rachel Welcome to the Desaulles list! The list is still in it's infancy and you are, actually, our first poster! It's difficult to do any more than guess without knowing any details about his parents, but it appears that your Louis de Saulles came from the French De Saules family? The ancestors of the UK De Saulles, the Canadian Dessaulles and the Utah, USA De Saules have all been traced back to the same family in Switzerland (to about 1650). It is my belief, knowing that my Swiss De Saulles
