I am looking for information on Louisa Koch she was born in Prussia. She
married Henry Matheus ( b 1831 in Hessel Cassel, Germany) They lived in
Milwaukee Wisconsin and are listed in the city directories as well as the
1880 census. Don't know anything about Louisa's parents or siblings, hoping
someone does.

Hi Betty (and all those who helped to trace Muellenbach)
Being back from a holiday I find all those kind helpers
for your Muellenbach search. Sure you might look for
your Salcherts' Muellenbach which is my Muellenbach, too, as you know.
It is Muellenbach Kreis Cochem (Zip Code 56761),
in Mapquest the coordinates are 5013704
Latitude 50.2167 - Longitude 7.0667.
The trouble in identifying the two Muellenbachs is such
that both are situated in the Eifel, and both are close to
each other, roughly 20 miles
Cochem is a county seat and major town upon the Mosel-river. It is on the
Eifel-side of the river and there are many ties to to the 'backland' (if
this is a proper term in English), however some "Moselaner" may mind if you
put them into the Eifel.
by the way if you tour the Eifel, you should also see Cochem.

Look at LDS film #549632d Items 4-6. You order it from Church of Latter Day
Saints Family History center near you. You go there to look at the film. You
should find your grandma's birth on it and information on the other family.
Good luck! Marlynn O'Keefe.

Fascinating!
Treves is Trier? Descendents of the Pickard family who founded the china
company are living today in New Trier Twp., Illinois, which was settled by
folks from the Trier area.
This is perhaps 40-50 miles from Antioch, where the china company is
located.

Dear Listers,
Thank you for your suggestions about travelling to the Eifel. I have decided
to go next month, the last two weeks in May. I have one more question:
I have now learned that "Ascensions Day" is a holiday in Germany. Does that
mean libraries or other research facilities will be closed? Does anybody
know what days? Any other possible problems associated with this date?
Jim Ross
Hi Jenifer,
Thank you for your reply. I finally checked out my 6000 name data base for Catherine Pickard. I do not have records for any of her ancestors or descendants. All that I have is Catherine Pickard *13 July 1836 in Neuerburg, she married Matthias Daleiden b 9 Feb 1866, in Neuerburg. They had two children Catherine * 6 Jan 1867 in Neuerburg, and Johanes *11 March 1768 in Neuerburg, o 24 Nov 1868. I do not know if Catherine Daleiden married.
I can trace Matthias back 2 more generations to Joha

Hi Jim,
Ascension Day (Christi Himmelfahrt is allways a thursday) is a holiday and
you won't have a chance to find an open office or store.
This day is also known to be fathers day (--> see Astrid's message).
But if you are in the Trier area you may be lucky and see some "Matthias
Bruderschaften" (St. Mathews brotherhoods ?!?!, catholic groups with a 300 -
400 year history) on their 4 day pilgrimige (Ascension Day -> following
Sunday) from the Rhine valey areas arround Cologne to Trier. If you come to

Andreas: Thank you for your reply. Is there an email or address? My
grandmother Magdalena Schroeder was born August 20, 1852 to Anna Marie
Hansen and Petrus Schroeder. I show a marriage to a Cornelius Muellers but
do not know if he died or came to the US. The marriage was April 8, 1872 in
B|desheim. They had a son Sebastian. Born in US or Germany? Let me know
of the cost okay. Dorothy

We are going on vacation to Europe next month & need some help. My map
finder cannot locate all of these locations, which we want to visit.
?M|llenbach, Cohen, Cirinli, Borussial, Steffle, Prum.
Due to poor micro-film, some may be misspelled. Can anyone help locate
them?
Is ?M|llenbach, the same as Muellenbach, bcause someone recently said there
is a Muellenbach in the Eifel region of the Rhineland, West of
Koblintz.
I know you will know, if you are there Ursula, because you sent me the info
