My DeVaughns lived in Silver Hill, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. Here is some information about them:
my mother is Margaret Geneva DeVaughn (living)
her parents: Margaret Geneva Ridgeway - (1876-1976)(called Eva) and Richard Oliver DeVaughn (called Ollie). buried in St. Barnabas Church Oxon Hill.
Ollie DeVaughns father was Peyton Grant DeVaughn (1851-1911), his mother was Annie Eliza Lusby(1848-1927). (buried in St. Barnabas Church, Oxon Hill). They had two other children - Mabel (Minnie) and

I am looking for Elisha F. DeVaughn, who was probably married (around 1840) and died (about 1843) in Randolph Co.,Alabama. He filed a patent for land there in 1839. Thank you for finding that, Nathan. His likely children were James Bertrand DeVaughn, b. Jan 7, 1842(my great grandfather) and a younger brother, Elisha F. DeVaughn, born one or two years later. Their mother, Elizabeth Smith/Smithwick, married Andrew D. Jordan in 1844(her date given on 1900 census). They had several other children and about 18

You are correct about his father. His mother's name was Lucia Annamae Deem. Harry Merle was born 1/10/1897 and died 10/29/1975. He was married at least 4 times. His first wife was Marie Robinson and they had 3 children. He had 2 children with his third wife and 1 daughter

Cousins,
I have missing ancestors in Blount and Tuscaloosa counties in
Alabama, and have found e-mail lists to be a help in connecting with
other cousins looking for the same ancestors. There was not a list
focusing on these areas, so I started them for us at rootsweb. The
lists will be for the area that is now, or used to be, included in
the county.
Some present-day counties other than Blount that were created
(totally, or in part) from land once included in Blount county are

the subject line of the posts. If the surname you are asking about
in a query is the FIRST WORD of the subject line, your cousins will
be more likely to see the post, which will be more helpful to you.
