1. Day of the Week Facility [1]
Please excuse this posting to say that I have installed a Javascript-based date routine on my homepage (below) which gives the day of the week on any date since 1st Jan 700, plus that month's calendar. However, it obviously needs Javascript to be enabled on your browser (Netscape 3.0 and IE 4.0 and above).....BUT it does not work very well on Netscape, and in fact I would advise you to use IE for better presentation of my pages and reliability of my Javascript routines. Amongst other things, I intend to do

9. DEVON INDEXING PROJECTS [1]
Hello all Listers, I'v been receiving a good deal of support for help in a Devon Census Indexing Project, plus much very helpful comment in respect of methodology etc. Yesterday I had a problem with my e-mail server, so I am somewhat behind in catching up with it all, but, PLEASE keep on volunteering.....the more there are the smaller the job for each of us. I will reply to all mail as soon as possible :-) John Lerwill.

12. DEVON INDEXING PROJECTS [1]
Hello all Listers, In the past few weeks, there's been some very constructive chat on this List about indexing projects, although the main specific was the notion of transcribing B, M and D index records (1837-on), firstly for Devon only, and then the idea moved to a national project as the England and Wales BDM indexes are not organised by county. Several of you (eventually including myself) keenly volunteered to help in this. HOWEVER, the full realisation that a national project is already underway (cal

14. DEVON CENSUS INDEXING PROJECT [1]
Hello all Listers, **Many thanks to all who have volunteered to date to participate on this project** You will recall that I suggested (in my first message on this subject) that we might tackle the 1841 census as the first bite, or byte :-) . This idea was based on the issues that.... 1. This census is the smallest of all the available E & W censuses; 2. It's the earliest available census, and in some ways the most important. However, various Listers have kindly pointed out: 1. The 1841 census appears

Text Yes, I agree that it doesn't 'have' to be a database program to handle on-line queries, but I suppose I'm speaking as a professional computer systems designer and developer who's been through many years of trying to persuade people to think of just a few years into the future, and the considerable advantages of having database faci
16. DEVON INDEXING PROJECTS [1]
Hello all Listers, SORRY !!........I omitted to include the 1891 census from those we can tackle, so the full list is: 1841, 1861, 1871, 1891......of which I've suggested the 1841 Census as the one to tackle as the first. John Lerwill.

Dear Listers, With regard to the LDS and their accessible records for all to use, I should like to promote the principle of "To each his own". - I have no affiliation to any particular religious community but do respect the rights of others to have theirs. The purpose of the "lists" is to collect and give information with regards to historical knowledge relating to linkages and networks of association of families, friends, and historical events. It serves no useful purpose to call into question the values
