I wonder if anyone can help with the following:
The Village meeting of West Stour has decided to publish a book to celebrate the millennium. The book will be published on Jan 1, 2000. The general focus will be to describe the way the village has changed in the last 100 to 150 years, and how we see it changing in the future. As such, it will sort of be an update to a book called "West Stour in Dorset" written by John Ash and published in 1980 (ISBN 0 9506956 0 2)which covered much of the history of the villa
I recently returned from a visit to the churches of my ancestors, Aaron
Cooke and Elizabeth Chard (ca. 1600). Thanks to all who assisted me in my
travel plans and research, and all the kindnesses of folks along the way.
I visited St. Mary's, Bridport and St. Mary's, Thorncombe, and it was one
of the most meaningful holidays I have ever experienced.

Hello Carole !
I didn't receive any E-mail on the 13th either - and usually I get
at least a dozen. I thought something had gone wrong with the computer,
as that day a friend was trying to install a Pegasus programme for E-mail.
So if you didn't get any mail then there was something wrong somewhere
else. Yesterday I received only mail addressed to me direct and nothing
from Dorset, Wessex or Suffolk - all of which I subscribe to.

I'm a newcomer to the Dorset list. My Skivington ancestors come from
the vicinity of Blandford: Okeford Fitzpaine, Iwerne Courtney and
Winterborne Stickland. The 1851 census mentions my gggg grandfather
John Skivington, born 1780, described as a Chelsea pensioner. (Naive
question: What's a Chelsea pensioner doing in Dorset? I suppose this
means he was a retired soldier, living at home while receiving a
pension from the authorities in Chelsea.)
I'm Australian, but I live in France. I often have to explain t

Hello Researcher !
I have the 1851 Dorset census on index only.
There is a Joseph Burrow ( no 's) aged 79 born Christchurc h,
Hants.. Apart from him, there seems to be just one Burrows family in
Poole - a John Burrows aged 35 born Poole with Mary aged 35 born 'Bucknel'
Dorset and their numerous young children, who were all born in Poole.

Hi everyone,
I have just obtained a Marriage Certificate for one of my relatives named
John William BURROWS.
On the certificate his father is correctly listed as JOHN BURROWS (Baker).
Also on the certificate I noted the Curate's name as JOHN BURROWS although
looking at it again it could be JOHN BARROWS.
The marriage took place in 1860 in the Parish Church of St. James, Poole,
Dorset.
Does anyone have any information on this Curate and if so was his name
BURROWS or BARROWS?
Any help would be greatly ap
