Lynne,
Have you tried Nick Vine Hall?
Do a google and type in his name and see what comes up.
I know he's interested in ships but not sure if he has any wrecks on his
list.

The January meeting of the Sydney DPS will be held on Saturday 10th at
Rumsey, starting at 1.30pm.
Format of the meeting is open discussion, with one important item being
options for funding the continuing addition of the SMH entries to the
Ryerson Index.
The format of the Parramatta meetings will be changing, as from the
February meeting. Please see the website:

for details.
Hope to see you all on Saturday at Rumsey.

Thanks John
I must say, the DPS mailing list is made up of some very helpful people.
Even when my questions cannot be answered, I still receive a reply.
When they are answered they are extremely helpful.
Thank you.

Hi all,
Can anyone assist me with a look up of a Sands Directory for 1908 or
between 1900 & 1910?
I am trying to get further information on the family of John Cain who
resided at
147 Macquarie Street in 1908. My great grandmother Margaret ROBILLIARD
nee O'BRIEN
was the Aunt of John Cain. She died at his house on 7th May 1908 and the
procession for
her funeral on 8th May 1908 left from this address as well.
Hope someone can help. Thanks in anticipation.

On 26 December 1899 Alice May Mary MOON also known as Mary, an
ancestor, drowned by accident in Sydney Harbour.
This happened well before the birth of my father, but my father recalls
being told a story of a ferry accident. The name Lady Grey/Gray is a name
in his mind, but of course unsubstantiated.
Does anyone know of a site where I can search for such accidents in Sydney
Harbour?

I have a ancestor William MOON who died on 29 March 1891 age 38 years as a
result of a duck shooting trip in a boat with his 13 year old son George.
William decided at the end of the day to get one more duck, picked up his
gun by the muzzle pulling it towards him and the trigger caught on the seat
and he killed himself. George was suspect number one but later cleared.
Poor boy.
Apparently someone who saw the inscription on his headstone at Rookwood
Cemetery was so intrigued, they had to find out how he d

Hi All,
I am trying to find information on the Strickland family.
My grandfather Walter Francis Strickland was born at Farrand Street, Forbes on 20/4/1898 and died at Hurstville, Sydney.
His father was Watler Strickland, born at Forbes in 1872 and he was married at Forbes on 25/5/1896 to Ellen Strickland, nee Beggs born 1876 in Coorang, Victoria.
I have sent away for my great grandfathers birth certificate and am unsure what other avenues I can take to gain information.
Any information would be much ap

Lynne's letters remind me.... I am interested in Elizabeth Ann
Henderson, who was buried in "Wesleyan Ground" (i.e. ground set aside
for the building of a church) at Botany (which was larger than what
is now called Botany). Elizabeth was buried on 8 October 1858. She
was wife to a market gardener employed by one of the
vegetable-growing estates in the Botany area. The witnesses at her
burial were Thomas Curry (or Corry) and J. Beaumont. I am familiar
with the "History of Botany" in which the earl
