Instead of census records, as compulsory voting have you considered
Electoral rolls. If you have an idea of where they lived some records show
married names or where they transferred to and also after 1973 it was
changed to 18 instead of 21 so you had a better chance of catching females
before they married. It shows when they went on the rolls as well which
sometimes helps to pick up an age if the parents were on it before then. It
can be a hard slog going from one year to the next as Murphy's Law if you
Hi Glenys,
The Probate Indexes are at SAG & at State Records and I expect several
other places (Libraries etc).
I have been using the services of a lady who goes to the Western
Sydney Records Centre at Kingswood every Friday and she will get
copies of Probate Packets & Deceased Estate Files for $15 each (up to
20 copies). It would cost me much more than this in fares to get
there. You need to supply the Probate No. & Series No. for her, and
some details about the person you are interested in.
Let me know

The May meeting of the Sydney DPS will be held this Saturday (8th) at
Rumsey Hall, 24 Kent St, Sydney, starting at 1.30pm.
We again have a supply of SMH death notices available for indexing, so any
indexers (current or past) who would like to collect some, please come
along. There are plenty to go around.
Aside from the usual indexing discussion, the format of the meeting is open.
I look forward to a big rollup.

Hi,
Would anyone out there be able to do a SMH death notice look up for me?
Either one of the following:
WAKEFIELD, Cyril Leonard, died 22-Nov-1990, appears in SMH 24-Nov-1990
WAKEFIELD, Ellen Mary, died 30-Sep-1998, appears in SMH 01-Oct-1998
Thanks to anyone you can help, it is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Helen Burwood
Peter: I can hardly believe you got Mervyn Clarence Richardson's obituary,
and sent it to me that quickly; thank you so much! I don't see any
immediate connection to our family, but see some possibilities, so will keep
checking. I am so grateful for the effort you made; if I don't check out
every possibility, then I may miss something really big, and I've learned in
genealogy to hold onto every bit of information because it may be like a
small piece of a huge jigsaw puzzle that falls out of the box first

I do not have the earlier SMH but possibly someone else will forward that notice.
Joyce RYERSON.
Would anyone be able to provide a copy of either of these obituaries:
Mervyn Richardson, published in March, 2000, in the Newcastle Herald, &/or
Mervyn Clarence Richardson, published on 28 Dec, 1974 in the Sydney Morning Herald?
We have several Mervyn Richardsons in our family, and since part of the family emigrated to Australia from Ireland, I think they may be related. Since we live in Virginia, USA, I doubt that I could get an interlibrary loan of the microfilm. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hello all,
I am posting this call for help to a number of lists, so apologies if you
get it more than once.

'Australian Family Histories : a Bibliography and Index'. It will contain
bibliographic details of 3,400+- family histories published in and relevant
to Australia, cross-referenced by 59,000+- family name occurrences - it
should be delivered from the printers by 14 May.
I am already working to upgrade my data for a possible second
Hi all,
I'm new to the list and have a few queries all relating to one person.
John Meyer FRIEZER, according to family, died maybe possibly they think
(you get the idea) around 1953.
He lived in Hurstville or Woollahra at the time.
I've checked Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park and only found one FRIEZER who
links into the tree but not John.
Unfortunately I don't have a clue what cemeteries are where in relation to
suburbs.
I'm trying to narrow down his death so I can order his death certificate.
If som
Thanks to those who have responded.
The original e.mail that I sent was in regard to a death in Hazelbrook, Sydney. What cemetery is the person most likely to be buried in?
Thanks,
