Could you please tell me why so many tasteless jokes are posted on this
list? Jokes are not on topic either, I would have thought.

Hi Valerie,
This would be the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Cemetery. The foundation
stone was laid by Bishop Polding 22 December, 1839 and the Church was gutted
by a bushfire in the 1880s when the shingle roof and wooden beams caught
alight and collapsed into the building. The Cemetery was still used much
later than this date.
There are many references to this Church in "The Forgotten Valley - History
of the Macdonald Valley and St. Albans, NSW" written by M. Hutton Neve ISBN
0 908120 48 6.

It is noted that John Snelson has managed to weave a little Beatlemania
around the editor of the well-known Genealogy Newsletter. For those who
missed out on John's brief demonstration of his little (but highly effective
program) for the Palmtronic computer, you may catch up with the details by
reading this week's issue of the Newsletter.
One trusts that the interest generated on the WWW will result in some
tangible returns for a large number of hours of fairly exacting
experimentation. At least the small

Hi,
I am looking for any information on a Rhoda Elizabeth HODEL (nee Gummow)
who died in Sydney after 1958.
Rhoda had a son Douglas who was adopted by his aunt because his mother
had become ill and could not care for him. He was then known as Douglas
Hodel Allan. He died in a plane accident in northern NSW during WW2.
These details were found in the Cairns Pioneer Register. I am trying to
find if Douglas Hodel Allan married and had any children. The Hodel
family are planning a gathering next year and we

I understand from Dick Eastman's Newsletter that a Bravo Zulu is due
to John and his Palm program. Drat I can't think of an excuse not to
buy one now Nice one!

Those of you present at the September DPS meeting would remember John
Snelson's comments about his Palm Tree software - genealogical data
recording on the Palm shirtpocket computer. Some of us also remember him
leaving the pub early following the meeting because he had to get home to
work on the Palm tree program - that's how serious the subject is!
The result of all this work is a review in the latest edition of Dick

>Do the records of the Benevolent Asylum still exist
They sure do, and are available on microfilm in the Dixson Library (rear of
the Mitchell, through the glass doors).
You will probably find the date of admission and date of death as a
minimum, and with any luck there may be some other information recorded
regarding family.

I hope I have the right list here . I'm trying to find out about some graves on the road side between St Albans and Wisemans Ferry . They are out front of an old stone building and has been fenced off and states trespassers keep out . The building is in a very poor state . Obviously it was a church . Does anyone on the list know the name of this site and the history behind it ? It has no other buildings around it , it just suddenly pops up out of the bush and is on a slope .It is on the right hand side of

Hi all,
It's clicked now! I didn't realise Trisha was referring to the Friday
jokes from the Perth DPS. I thought there must of been jokes posted to
the Sydney DPS, that I hadn't seen.
I think the jokes are great, and look forward to them every week. A
little bit of humour is good for the soul.
Sherrie.
