Hello Mary Elisabeth Michener
I was going through ny father's papers yesterday and found this Penetryn systems tax receipt. So out of curiosity, I wanted to know more about this co. Dad worked for. The last search was about 'ancestry' and I found your request. Gerald, my fat
Hello subscribers,
I hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving or at least a nice long &
relaxing weekend.
I am still searching for the parentage of my gg-grandfather, Joseph
Dearborn Dresser, who was a tailor in Montreal for much of his life, but
was born in the U.S. sometime between 1819 and 1831. I don't know
where, but it was possibly in Maine or Vermont.
Here are some Joseph Dresser's who fit within the right age brackets:
1) Joseph Dresser, lawyer, age 30 in the 1850 Census for Penobscot
County, Tow
FYI --
Ancestry.com has a database for cemetery records from Mt. Auburn Cemetery
in Middlesex County in the state of Massachusetts. This database includes
several DRESSER's, and is free for searching until 11/10:

You are correct. Thomas & Caroline are his parents, Seth, David,
Sarah & Peter, his youngest siblings. Eben is his older brother.

Hello subscribers,
I am sending this message to all of the mailing lists that I administer,
so I apologize in advance to those of you who will get this more than
once.
I will be out of town from Saturday 11/11 until Thursday 11/16. I will
be attending the ASIS&T Conference in Chicago where I may or may not
have access to e-mail; that remains to be seen.
If you are having any problems with your mail or your subscriptions, I
will have some time Saturday morning before I leave, but otherwise I
cannot guara

Seth was another one of Joseph R. Dresser's siblings.
The family seemed to be in the business. Thomas, another
brother, owned a lumber mill in Orono.

Jim,
I suppose it is possible that the two Joseph's were the same. The
person he was staying with in Orono was a Lumberman, and there were a
lot of other persons there that looked like an occupation of "Lawyer",
but I suppose it could have been "Sawyer" instead.
The one thing that wouldn't quite fit is the age -- one Joseph (the one
in Orono) was apparently 5 years older than the other one. Of course
the age could have been wrong on one of the entries.
I didn't check the date to see if they were close;

I am forwarding this message from Tom, because I think he intended it

Hello subscribers,
Now that we have a few more subscribers (but still no more than 10 yet),
it's time to introduce yourselves and indicate which DRESSER line you
are researching.
I'll start.
The earliest DRESSER in my line that is known to me at this time is
Joseph Dearborn DRESSER, who was probably born circa 1830, most likely
in the US....probably Maine. He was a tailor by trade, and my earliest
record of him is a letter written in 1856, in Montreal, Canada,
establishing the business of DRESSER & ROBI
Tom,
I just did a search on Jim's Main Dresser Line page, and found the
following entry for your Elizabeth Dresser:

FYI --
I have some of the entries for DRESSER from the new Ellis Island
Database -- not the full data available mind you, just the index of
names, etc.
I will break this up into several e-mails, partly because it might be
too big for one, and partly because I can only seem to get one page at a
time. Then I have to wait for quite a while to get the next one.
Anyways, here goes. Each entry below has the following format:
