From Jamestown to Texas Book I came out last fall. It starts out going backward from Austin County, Texas which was the location of Stephen F. Austin's colonial capitol of Texas in 1824-1836. I need help on Virginia history! I have seen some good maps somewhere on the web of the progress of counties in Colonial Virginia, specifically in the Jamestown area. I am trying to locate a good many families on a variety of creeks and rivers in the 1600's & 1700's. Most land grants and deeds referenced the nearest body of water, whether it was a creek, swamp or river.
