1. John Dutton, etc. [1]
Hi everybody! I received this in the mail today from Mel Dutton, the cousin I previously told you all about my dad meeting at the hospital. He included a note saying that if we "were playing connect-the-dots", he surely sent me "a basket load of dots"! So here goes... It's a photo copy that someone sent him. I don't know who. I've copied it exactly as I have it. I'd be interested in knowing how (and IF) the items that say they are documented were documented. Lynn *******************************************

Very good reply, Darrell! Doni - please be very cautious in using anything from Dick Dutton's file!!! I need to repeat here that you should take nothing in that file as FACT until you can verify it from an original source or a well-respected secondary source that cites an original source. Dick did a good job of compiling a lot of stuff he found in hundreds of different places. But he never claimed that what was in his file was fully accurate. I'm sure if he were still alive, he would himself be issuing thi
6. Original copy of Cope, etc. [1]
Today, I managed to get down to our local library to see what kind of genealogy section they have (I've only lived in this area for about 28 years). I was surprised, it wasn't half bad - of course I don't know what a good one or bad one might be, for comparison. Regardless, I stumbled around and put my hand in the "D" section and came up with what appears to be an original copy of Cope. It's beat up pretty badly, but seems to be all there. It was donated to the library in 1967 by Florence Dutton Pri

Hi Gina.....yes, I got your last message but obviously you didn't get my reply! Unless you have an alternate e-mail address.....we'll have to graduate to smoke signals! My e-mail the night that we talked on the phone.....asked if you have access to a scanner and could scan Sir Christopher Hatton on his horse at Windsor Castle.....up close. This AOL thing is so bizarre. It helps me understand why I've written to so many people and never heard back from them! I wonder what AOL's position is on the probl

16. Re: Amazing new early DUTTON info! [1]
Hi Phyllis, I, of course, want a copy of the pictures and text. Maybe we can buy the book from the Cambridge University Press. Since they have exhumed 40 bodies, maybe we could have DNA tests run on them. I know that I brought this up sometime ago, but finding and digging up bodies seemed a little drastic. But they've already dug them up for us. Now, I know almost nothing about the DNA tests--but it sounded like better proof of lineage than a pedigree and it didn't sound that expensive either!! They

18. Re: Oxford Ancestors:DNA test available for distant maternal ancestors [1]
Dear List, Oxford ancestors already offers mtDNA testing which can identify which of 7 women is your remote female ancestor. These women lived 10,000 to 20,000 years ago and are ancestors to 99 per cent of all living people with European ancestry. The test involves a simple cheek swab which is mailed to Oxford ancestors and costs $180. This test could prove useful to those with a Dutton "umbilical line" which is descent from a Dutton women passed from mother to daughter to living women. The website UR
19. photo [1]
Hi everybody, I found this in the "Somebodys Links" newsletter from Rootsweb. S. Wilush (swilush@aol.com) wrote saying that she has a photograph of a woman that appears to have been taken sometime in the late 1800's. The name "Maud Blanchard" is written on the back. The photographer was E. H. Dutton in Anoka, Minnesota. Ring any bells for anyone? Lynn __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hi All: Now that Doug has taken the lead in, and the enormous chore of, providing us with a copy of Dick Dutton's file, I thought it might be worth posting what I understand is my line. Maybe I have some cousins on here. Might be fun to share and compare our particular ancestors. A family member had traced us back to Moses Dutton who served in the American Revolution. Dick Dutton supplied details which showed Moses Dutton's ancestry goes back to MA John, so you PA John descendants can tune out

Hi Gary, (let's see if we can outsmart AOL !) (This is a copy of an earlier message I tried to send to you - with other comments added tonight!) Got your interesting message! This is so fascinating. A founder of Newark, NJ? omygosh! We lived in NJ for 20 years and my husband worked for AT&T in Newark for a good deal of that time! I have to ask you if you've ever seen a copy of "The Memorials of The Duttons of Dutton.....with notes on the Sherborne branch?" This tells much about John Bruen and his con

Well, I'm back. I can't leave this stuff alone! It's a disease! But this is great stuff and I just had to share it with you asap! I recently joined the Cheshire-L list and have had great help from the folks on that list on a number of questions. They're a fun bunch! A recent query I sent to them was about Norton Priory.....if anyone there could give me an eye-witness look at what's there today.....and if there exist any pictures of the Abbey and Priory before they were torn down during the dissolution
