I forward to the list this message I just received from a friend of
mine in London. She has a Masters Degree in Medieval Studies and works part
time as a costumed (13th cent.Lady!) guide at the Tower of London! I told
her of our suspicions that Sir Christopher had a SECOND suit of armor there
in the armory and asked her to check for me. She final
Hello Dutton Researchers,
Today, I finally received a reply from Professor Sykes at
Oxford. He reported that "...we are not confident about
getting Y Chromosome from it [bones]." He said that he was
sorry to disappoint me but that in his opinion no one
"...has got sufficiently good Y Chromosome recoveries from
ancient bones for your purpose." Thus, he also did not
recommend another lab.
Well, maybe in the future sometime! At least, we know where
the bones are! The only other recourse we would have
The Jeremiah Lincoln Dutton that I have was born 16 Jan 1827 in Sussex
County, DE. He married Nancy Ann Baker on 15 Dec 1851 in La Salle

Dutton that you are seeking.

In regards to a request for information on Lodia W. Dutton (c1833-1875)
of Cecil Co. Md. I find no information in my records. However, I have
done a little research in Maryland and do have a few records pertaining
to various Dutton's who resided or was in the state at one time. As I am
new to this list I can not be sure if this information has been posted
at a prior time.

Hi Darrell,
You have made a magnificent effort in getting out all of those CD's, it must
have taken hours of your time, time that could have been spent in your own
personal research.
Can I thank you for that hard work, and indeed for my copy and may I offer
to take on the job of copying and circulating any CD's this side of the pond
in the UK, hoping that someone will reciprocate and pick up the work in the
USA and maybe 'down under' too.
Kind regards

Dear fellow DUTTON-L list members:
I got the "Let's watch TV" virus hoax alert from the list today. I tried to send the message that follows to the DUTTON-L list admin, but it bounced. I probably messed something up.
I verified that the virus in question is a hoax at:

and did a search under "hoaxes" for the keyword "TV". I found the following.

When I first joined this site, I had found somewhere a name for the "Sarah" listed as the elusive Jeremiah's wife. I found the note just yesterday had written concerning this information, but no source, so this tidbit is speculative at best. Does anyone have the name "Sarah Prince" listed as a possible wife of Jeremiah Dutton?

I can't let the opportunity pass us by. There is an important lesson here.
And it isn't confined to virus hoaxes. It is an important lesson for all of
us stuggling genealogists using the Internet:
Just because you find something on the Internet doesn't mean it's true!
Whether it is a virus warning or a website that says Matthew Smith married
Mary Allison, always find and check the original source for the information.

Hi Roberta,
Do you have much information about the Denver Duttons? Dewey is not a
familiar name to me, but my father was born in Denver as Dutton Castella
Goldsmith (b. 1919 d. 1983).
His parents were Harrison Goldsmith (b. 1891 d. 1935) and Eva Dutton (b.
1892 d.1971). They were divorced and Eva legally changed my father's last
name to Dutton, making him Dutton Castella Dutton. Eva's parents were
Samuel F. Dutton (b. 1872, d.1927) and Jessie Breese (d. 1945). Sam

Larry,
Yes, they are correct. Mary DARLINGTON married John DUTTON of Overton,
Cheshire, England. They and their children emigrated to Pennsylvania in
1682. After John's death (date uncertain but about 1705 I think) she married
their neighbor John NEELD. I am a descendant of John and Mary Dutton and
possess deeds signed by John and Mary Neeld conveying land to her sons by
John Dutton.
Somehow, somewhere in the past, someone associated Mary Neeld with a

Doug,
It is interesting to read about Mary Neeld. I have seen a number of references
to her in the Dutton list and some other locations.
I have a friend in our city who is a Nields, same family as Neeld, different
spelling. As I recall, their genealogy research has a Mary Nields (spelling?),
a widow of ?? Dutton, marrying into the Nields family. There were no children
from this marriage. However, I thought the Dutton in this matter was in
Pennsylvania.
I learned this several years ago before I began
Phyllis,
The crypt of St. Paul's has many, many, many tombs. I've stayed at the Youth
Hostel right around the corner from the church a half dozen times and have
often visited the church and the crypt.
If he was buried in the crypt, the tomb is probably still there. The
monuments are in stone on stone walls and the stone floor of the crypt, so
even a fire would probably leave them relatively unscathed. Whether old
tombs may have been removed at the time Sir Christopher Wren's new church
was built is anothe
