1. GRIGGS: "Genealogy of The Griggs Family" by Walter Griggs [1]
As a follow-up to this statement by Lisa Henderson... "I have in the GRIGGS Genealogy, Catherine, daughter of Daniel and Jaminocha, b. 1700-1720?, was m. to Peter WILLIAMSON, son of William," ...I have consulted "Genealogy of The GRIGGS Family" by Walter S. Griggs (Pompton Lakes, NJ: The Biblio Company, Inc.; 1926; LDS FHL Film #1321159). While this genealogy does confirm that Catherine GRIGGS married Peter WILLIAMSON, it does *not* state that

Christine, William Brower Bogardus has compiled a "Directory of Genealogical and Historical Articles Published in 'de Halve Maen' from 1923 to 1991". It is an 8 1/2" X 11" booklet of 27 pages, and -- if I recall correctly -- it cost about $ 6.00. Bill does not have a computer and does not use email. You can write to him at 1121 Linhof Road, Wilmington, Ohio 45177-2917. Ask him to send you a price-list of other items he has for sale. Wayne and Aert, According to Pearson's Genealogies of the First Settlers of Albany, Major Dirk Wesselse TEN BROECK b. 1642, married Christina Cornelise VAN BUREN. In his will made 4 Feb 1714/15, proven 6 Feb 1717/18. Dirk mentions, among other children, "Geertruy, wife of Abraham SCHUYLER." Major Dirck's "death of 13 Sept 1717 is recorded in Dutch in the family bible now owned by a descendant". There is no further info on Dirck's parents nor where he was born. It would seem that we have 2 different fellow

Hello all: This is also a name that I have found while transcribing the Pierce County WI records for the USGenWeb project. It is spelled Houghtaling in all the records that I have found it in so far during this particular time and place. There is a search engine online for this site if you wish to visit it to look for the name. Pierce County, WI USGenWeb Pierce County wasn't settled until the 1840s, and the records are from the 1850s (when it became a c
6. Records of the French Church of NY [0.978179]
Hello all, I got a question about where I found the records of the "French Church of NY". I thought others might be interested as well; so here it is. I accessed it at one of my local libraries. _Register of the Births, Marriages, and Deaths of the "Eglise Frangoise ` la Nouvelle York," from 1688 to 1804_, ed. by Rev. Alfred V. Wittmeyer, 1886. This was published as Collections of the Huguenot Society of America, Vol. I. It was reprinted in 1968 by Genealogical Publishing Co. and again as recently a

8. Legg-Merritt help [0.978179]
Hi from a new subscriber, My cousin in NY just sent me a copy of a Family Tree column in the Sept 1, 1977 issue of the "Old Dutch Post-Star." Says the feature was prepared by the Ulster Co. Genealogical Society. The column is on the "Leg-Legg-Laig-Legge-Legh Family." It says that Susanna Merritt & William Legg had Banns called in the Dutch Reformed Church in Kingston in January 1677. I can't find any trace of banns or marriage in the Hoes book. Anyone know where there is a record of the marr

11. De Ridder family [0.978179]
Some nice person e-mailed me about being able to help with my research on the De Ridder family. He said for me to give him the birthdate of my Great Grandfather, Herbert ( Huibert) De Ridder. I accidently erased this message. I don't know how, nibble fingers I guess. Please send me your e-mail address again. Thank you. Sharon Preising

Dave Ladely: I accidently deleted our previous correspondence on this matter so am sending this to what I think is your address and to Dutch-Colonies. [Hope you also came accross the data on the Sleght family in 3-19-99 Dutch-Colonies post by Margot Gifford...] With dates, this is what I have on the Dutch Klock family connection to the Sleghts. 1) Abraham Martenszen Klock (d. 1665/6) m. Tryntje Alberts Pothoft (d. 1685). 2) Albert Klock (bap. 1660-1725/6) m. Tryntje Van der Heul (d. 1727). 3) Femmetje (P
14. Re: Teunis Cornelise Slingerland [0.978179]
Dear Richard I cannot tell you with 100% certainty who Geertie Fonda was but I can offer a theory, with my reasons for suggesting it. I checked the baptismal record for the Albany Dutch Church and found that on 10 May 1685, Antoni Van Slingerland baptised a son Johannes. The sponsors were Douw Jelisz, Johannes Appel and Maria Jansz. There is some confusion in the Albany records transcription -- and prior to bpt. #484 1690, the child's mother's name is *NOT* the name under the father's. So - when yo

"Nancy J. Curran" wrote: >Could d.s. mean "died stillborn"? That was my first guess but near the end of the data submitted with the question were some males who lived into their 20s or 30s. That made me take a guess at "died single". Then I sat back to see what the "correct" answer was. Since Nancy's guess was the only one I've seen, I thought I'd post my guess.

18. Re: Geertje or Gertruy Minne or Gertruy Van Voorhees married to Ferd Van Sicklen [0.978179]
Cynthia and I need help on this one. We had Geertje Minne or Geertje Van Voorhees, daughter of Lucas Van Voorhees, married to Ferdinandus Van Sicklen. I believe there was some talk of this on the Dutch Colonies site a while back where it was stated that Geertje or Gertruy was Geertje Minne and not Gertruy Lucasse Van Voorhees. Wayne

Grietje would be Grietjen, etc. (Wish I could provide a specific citation

21. Herck (Hendrick) Sybouts & wife, Wyntje Teunise (Quick) [0.978179]
Herck and Wyntje had a daughter bpt. "Maryken" (aka Marritje) on 10 Nov 1647 in the New Amsterdam NYC RDC. We often see these children of Herck and Wyntje with different surnames, sometimes it's HERCX and sometimes it's SIBOUTS, or a varient spelling of the same. Due to that confusion, I have a dilemma with their daughter, Maryken, mentioned above. The RDC records of New Amsterdam and NYC marriages show 2 young ladies, both marked as j.d. with similiar names. I am wondering if the records erred with the "j.
