1. [D-Col] NJ research [1]
Greetings: I am going to be traveling to Bergen County NJ in a couple of months and after the discussion of State Cencus recently, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what libraries in North West Bergen County might have the NJ State Cencus on microfilm. Englewood by chance? I know where that is. Thanks for any info. 4. [D-Col] Re:Land for Empire State Building [0.979288]
Hi again, Lorine, I did not notice the mention of "park" until I re-read your posting. There are some parks on Manhattan, including Madison Square Park on Fifth Avenue between E. 23rd Street and E. 25th Street. Central Park starts on W. 59th Street between Fifth Avenue and Eighth Avenue and ends on W.110th Street. So, I believe that your ancestor VV might refer "park" to the area currently known as Madison Square Park since it is much closer to ESB. Regards, Jean On Tue, 6 Mar 2001 19:57:41 -0500

Does anyone have a listing of the children of Abraham and Cornelia other than Maria? Does anyone have any other information on this Abraham and Cornelia: birth, death, marriage, ect. ?? Is there a surviving will for Abraham?? Thanking anyone in advance for any help, suggestions, ideas, guesses. John

The name Watervliet has been applied to different places at different times. It was another name for the West Manor of Rensselaerswyck, which covered most of the county of Albany outside of the city of Albany. It was that "Watervliet" from which the various town of Albany County were carved. Yes, the Genealogies of N.J. Families was published in 1996 -- BUT it merely reprints articles that appeared in the Genealogical Magazine of N.J. over a period of many years -- so you have to go by the dates of the original articles, and not by the reprinting in 1996. (Howard S. FitzRandolph died about 1956 so obviously both were done prior to that time). Harman Clark hclark@bypass.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "MScheffler" To: "Harman Clark" ; "Dut

Dear Susan, Thank you for being willing to share! As you know, the Croms of Ulster County are descendants of Gysbert Willems Crom (died 1644), and the Croms of Rockland County are the descendants of Willem Willemsz Crom (died sometime between 1653 and 1660). They were both sons of Willem Gijsberts Crom who died sometime between 1610 and 1627. Have you been able to descover the surname or patronymic of "Jenneken", the wife of the elder Willem Gijsbertsz Crom? Dorothy On Sun, 25 Mar 2001 Emaco241@aol.com

In the "Schermerhorn Genealogy and Family Chronicles" by Richard Schermerhorn Jr., New York 1914, is published (p. 32) the will of Jacob Janse Schermerhorn, made May 20, 1688, "Recorded in Albany County Clerk's Office. Book I, Page 26, Wills." The will online: http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/families/schermerhorn/chronicles/1b.html#6 The will contains different paragraphs and it's remarkable that we don't find after paragraph 3d. the paragraph 4th, but 6th! 18. Re: [D-Col] Gerrit Gerritse or Frederickse Lansing? [0.979288]
I'm sorry for the confusion; probably it was too late at night for me. Of course the wife of Gerrit was Elisabeth Hendriks. That makes my suggested theory of the meaning of Gerrit 'Frederiks' Lansing nonsense. But till now no Frederik Lansing is found, and the conclusion from the Dutch sources must be that the father's name was Gerrit. The letter of 4 Jun 1679 that the adult children of Gerrit Lansingh and Elisabeth Hendricks received is interesting in this matter, I'm very curious: the father died before 1

I seem to have a difficult time locating published NJ Will Abstracts post-1780. It was actually Ellis Island, not Liberty Island, that NY and NJ fought over. It was ruled that NY owned the original 3 acres of the island but that NJ owned the 24 acres that were subsequently added as landfill. See: http://www.cnn.com/US/9704/01/ellis.island/ Possibly the worst deal relating to the Empire State Building was made by the Japanese company that bought it around the 1980s. It was made subject to a 99-year lease to the previous owners at such a low rent that the new owners are getting a ve
