Dear Susan,
I looked for your James Blauvelt, b. 1810 in the published Blauvelt
genealogies and didn't find him.
I suugest that you contact Ralph or Frances Blauvelt. Ralph is the
Genealogist for the Blauvelt Family Association and he has records which
have not yet been published. I'm sure that he would also like to have
any information which you have for the association's files.:

Dear Cousin Bill (and Barbara)
I saw your posting reply to Barbara. I have much Verveelen/Van Valen,
etc. etc. information - about 95 pages in text format, going back to the
Netherlands. Let me know your direct line, and as a start, I'll connect
you back to the immigrant, and also back to the facinating Domine Gideon
Schaets, Second Dutch Minister of Albany (for 50 years), the father of
Alida Schaets who m. the first Verveelen. After I get my files fully
converted into Word for Windows, I can send
Dear Cousin David,
Here is what I have on the ancestry of Nicholas GOUVERNEUR. He is
descended from Metje JANS, the sister of Tryn JONAS, the mid-wife of New
Amsterdam, who is my direct ancestor.
Note: the numbering system is based on the Modified Henry System. The
number of digits shows the generation. The value of the digit is the
birth-order.
I would be interested in what you have on the GOUVERNEURS and KORTRIGHTS.

I checked my files but could not find a connection between WINANS and

There were Jurckse/Yerks/Yerkse in Westchester County, NY in the early
1700s. Get a hold of Grenville McKensie's manuscript of the Families of
Philipse Manor (I think that's the title). It is in the Library of the
Westchester County Historical Society located at the Westchester County
Archives on Saw Mill River Road, (Rt 9A) Elmsford, NY. I think a copy,
and perhaps a more complete one, is in the New York Public Library.

I must take exception to your interpretation of Christina Vinge's husband
from raeding the will of Jan Vinge.
It was not uncommon for married women, at this time to take their
husband's first name as a "Patronymic". Therefore Christina Dirckse is
Christina, the wife of Dirck. This appears to be the case for Tryn
Jonas, the midwife of New Amsterdam. The "experts" consider that her
surname, Jonas, means that she was married to a Scandanavia namesd Jona.
Cornelia Vinge (Roos) is an incorrect name. S
I am trying to track a Jacob Bogart family, which was in Owasco Twp.,

have been baptized, if in a Dutch Reform Church?
Hi!
I'm searching for James Blauvelt's family. He was born 1810 in New York
City (?) His father was Abraham Blouvelt. He married Edith Eldredge on
Aug. 08, 1852 in Chatham, MA. They had one child : Adelia Edith
Blouvelt, born Dec. 7, 1855 in Chatham, MA. Sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks!!

Per French's 1859 Gazateer of New York:
Of the 11 churches in the town of Johnstown, one was Reformed Protestant
Dutch. 7 were in Johnstown, 3 in Gloversville, and one in the hamlet of
Kingsborough. All these locations are on the route to Fonda where the
Caughnawaga Reformed Church was. French's does not indicate when the
church in Johnstown was formed.
Additionally, there were Reformed Protestant Dutch churches in the towns
of Caroga and Ephrata, but these are further from Mayfield than the two
churches

Hi Babara,
I noticed under your posting that you are researching VERVEELENs and
WESTERVELTs. I am reserching the VERVALENs and the WESTERVELTs in the NJ
and NYC area. My Westervelt line goes back to Lubbert Lubbertsen Van
WESTERVELT (b 1620-Holland). I haven't had much luck with my VERVALENs-
maybe the spelling is my problem.
Does anything here sound familier? If so- maybe we could exchange info-

choice?). Children as follows, mothers unassigned

Hi,
I don't have any Clayton in my Conover family at the moment but I was
wondering where your Conovers were located. I've just started looking into
the Conover family. Mine were from Monmouth Co., NJ. They owned land in
Winsor Twp. and were founders of the Penns Neck Baptist Church.
Any connection?

There are times when trying to sort out surnames is a pain! I was
working on the LANSING name when I encountered this from Pearson's
Genealogies of the First Settlers of Schenectady. Sander m. first
Engeltie, d/o Harmen Van Slyck and secondly, Neeltje, d/o Johannes Van
Eps, wid. Then it mentions his step-daughter, Geertruy Van Eps. I can
not find the right Johannes to hook Neeltje up with. Can any Van Eps
researcher help?
While I am at it I have encountered the fact that my Bulman's married

I had a Mary Dechart in my family that I worked on for years, and I finally
found her in a comprehensive book Genealogy of the Deckard Family, reprinted
by the Higginson Book Co., Derby Square, Salem, MA 01970. This book contains
many Deckers and a number of Margaret/Margaretta Deckers. It is too time
consuming for me to research. This is a soft bound book, so I do not know if
it is readily available in libraries or not. Be flexible about how the name
is spelled - those Germans had a penchant for changi
On 9/9/97 I submitted an e-mail containing (never before published)
historical and genealogical research notes (and sources) on the subjects
of Dutch/Walloon families in the Dutch Colonies of New Amsterdam and

readers. I haven't seen them appear as yet; nor have I received an
acknowledgement that they were received. These note were the first
installment of many that I've recorded as a result of over 40 years of

Desperately looking for information on a Jacob Everett, a Doctor, probably
from Northern NJ. He died in 1802, married possibly in Hunterdon Co. NJ,
Hannah Longfelt. Of the "supposed" 8 children, I have just 3.......
Isaac; b. 13 Mar 1771 and married Mary Davis.
Marshall; bpt. 14 June 1775, no info.
George; bpt. 1 Nov 1780, no info.
Would anyone have any information on the parents (lines) of Jacob and Hannah
and on any of the children?
