1. Re: [ST MARYS] Owen Family of Bowdon, Chesire [1]
Tammy Welcome to the list. I have found a few snippets for you from the Bowdon Parish records. William Owen son of Samuel & Jane Owen of Altrincham was baptised 2-10-1836. Samuel Owen Married Jane Siddall (Both of Bowdon Parish) on 5-11-1833. Jane Siddall dau of William and Martha Siddall of Altrincham was born 18-5-1804 and baptised at Bowdon on 17-6-1804. I cannot identify a baptism for Samuel Owen. We have baptisms for boys with the name Samuel Owen in 1768, 1785, 1788,1849 and1849 but none of the

5. HOLT MARRIAGE [1]
Hello, I wonder if SKS can help find a marriage for my gggGrandparents. Peter HOLT and Sarah. They were born in Altincham about 1790. I know this is not much information. On the 1841 Census they have a daughter Sarah age 23 and daughter Ann 16. Their son James was born 1836. Maybe James' baptism is listed? Thanks for any information Regards, Carolyn
6. Re: [ST MARYS] HOLT MARRIAGE [1]
Carol I have searched our registers and found what I hope will be a lead for you. There is no marriage of Peter Holt and Sarahat Bowdon. There is a baptism of Mary daughter of Peter and Mary Holt of Altrincham on 1 Apr 1810 at Altrincham Chapel. Mary was born 10 Mar 1810. St Georges Chapel in Altrincham was a Chapel attached to St Mary's Bowdon from about 1800 to 1812 when it seems to have formed a separate parish. Our records contain an incomplete register for the chapel from 1800 to 1812 only. I sug

8. HODGKINSON [1]
Hi I have been on this list a while back but I am now trying to help a friend. John Goodier from Davenham married Susannah HODGKINSON in 1835 at St Winifred's in Davenham but from the census she puts her place of birth as Altrincham abt 1811/12 and I am not having much luck in finding her. I did find the one Hodkinson baptised at St Mary's but that was a boy and the records were very hard to read. Carol

Thanks Derrick for looking. Do you know which other church in or around Altrincham they might have used? 10. Neild family [1]
Hi I'm looking for information on Neilds/Nields from the Bowdon area. I have the marriage of John Nield to Sarah Drinkwater in 1792 but nothing earlier. I have seen references to a John Nield as parish clerk but don't know if he is connected. Any clues would be welcome. I have read the purpose of this list so may be rather out of order with this message! I have found links to the Kennerdale family in Bowdon, and wondered if it would be possible for someone to send me any relevant data. Many thanks Judith Kennerdale

13. Owen Family of Bowdon, Chesire [1]
Hello listers, I am new to the list and interested in trying to find information regarding a Samuel Owen, born abt. 1814, his wife, Jane, and son, William Owen born abt.1837. My grandfather is descended from their line. They are all listed on the census records as being born in Bowdon, but I do not know what church. If anyone is researching this family or has any information that may be helpful, please contact me. Thank you for your help. Tammy McIntire
14. Visiting the Churchyard [1]
Hello Derrick (& anyone with experience of the St Mary's Churchyard) My husband and I will be in in Bowdon for a day & a half later in September (Friday afternoon to Sunday morning) following a conference in Aberdeen. The main task is some photography of the area. I would also like to visit the churchyard to photograph the graves of my Pimlott and Goulden ancestors. I have the feeling that the churchyard is probably large and full and time is short as I have research to do in Manchester Library as well. Is
15. Re: [ST MARYS] Family research [1]
Dear Judith There are as far as I can see only three references to the Ken(n)erdale name in Bowdon Church registers. They are as follows:- John Kenerdale was buried 9 Jun 1697. He was an Apothecary from Altrincham. Martha Kennerdale, a widow of Altrincham was buried 19 Jul 1725. Josiah Warburton a bachelor farmer from Hale married Elizabeth Kennerdale, a spinster from Ashley on 15 Feb 1846. Josiah was son of William Warburton, a farmer. Elizabeth was daughter of Peter Kennerdale, a farmer. No baptisms
16. Re: [ST MARYS] Neild family [1]
Dave Please send me a postal address and I will prepare a full print out of the information in Bowdon Church records for this name. About 35 pages of information including 120+ burials, 66 Baptisms and a number of marriages and all the relevant grave inscriptions We do request a donation to Church funds for this. I also have another person researching the Nield family and will send him your e-mail address if you give permission for this. Derrick Murdie Bowdon Church Archivist ----- Original Message --

Carol There are 12 people baptised with the Hod(g)kinson surname between 1738 and 1950 but none around the date you are looking for and none with the first name Susannah.
