1. [SUNDERLAND] Rutter - Pallion [1]
Hello to all on the list, I am just starting to delve into my Northern family. Gr.gr.grandfather John RUTTER and his wife Margaret BAINBRIDGE ran a pub called the Pallion Inn, on Lister Street, from 1871 til 1911. John was also a seaman, possibly involved in trading. Two of his children married ARMSTRONGs - my gr.grandfather George Bainbridge Rutter married Sarah Armstrong in 1867 and his sister Jane married George Armstrong c.1887. I know that Sarah had a brother Geordie who sailed around the world

Hi Verlaine, I can not help you with CHRISHOP & HOLMES, but if you try the following URL http://uk2.multimap.com/home.html you will find Westbury St., I could not find NewGrey St. so it is either not there now, or I mis-spelled it when I entered it. I noticed Westbury St. is in the same area where my g'parents lived (General Havelock Rd.)Good luck. My Storey ancestors did settle in Bishopwearmouth 1809 to 1814. Roman Catholics, they attended St Mary's... Martin william ( or William Martin) Storey of Ayecliff m. Ann Gibson of Darlington before making the move to Bishopwearmouth where they had 6 children before emigrating to the U.S. between 1848 and 1853. It could be that only their son, Miles Darnton Storey made the trip with bride Mary Ann Hall of New Winning. Not very decisive information; however, there is more later. regards, lyle S Storey w
5. Re: [SUNDERLAND] ROBSON, SEYMOUR [0.985389]
Hi Peter, Mind if I don't feel sorry for you sitting on all that gold in 24c heat ? :-) I have some indexes to the 1851 census for Bishopwearmouth, which I've had a quick scan through. I can't see a 9 year old +/- named Robert Robson ( assuming 1842 is correct ). There are several Roberts but the ages are 5/6/12 etc. This doesn't mean he wasn't born in Sunderland, but if the family was there then they are probably on a sheet I haven't got :-( Are you sure about the parents names ? 5 year old - John/Ell
