Count me in for one of the shares! I wonder how many people it would
take to buy it? Perhaps we could have a whip-around at the Christmas

replaced Nicholas MARSHALL as Curate sometime between 16 March 1802 and

Hi Carole
Joseph Cooper and Mary Thompson had 8 children, born between 1805 and 1824.
Until 1812, they are baptised as being children of Mary Thompson, but
"reputed father Joseph Cooper". After 1814, they are baptised as being of
Joseph and Mary Cooper.
Joseph and Mary were uncle and niece, so any marriage between them would
have been illegal. It is explicitly prohibited in the "Table of Kindred and
Affinity" which used to be commonly displayed in churches. I saw one a few
weeks ago, but cannot remember w
Hi All
Time to make my contribution!
The two Ann COOPERs were first cousins once removed, both being descended
from Thomas COOPER and Martha ISAAC. In the case of the Ann COOPER who
married Peter CHAPPLE, Thomas and Mary were both her grandparents and her
great-grandparents thanks to the marriage (if I could only find it) of
Joseph COOPER to his niece Mary THOMPSON.
Witnesses to the marriage of Peter CHAPPLE and Ann COOPER were Robert and
Elizabeth TUCK. Robert is presumably the husband of Harriet COOPER

I thought Robert was more likely to be Harriet's son than husband. Ann
Cooper was then aunt to both Robert and Elizabeth.
Incidentally, my files show Elizabeth as Elizabeth Tuck Cooper Thompson (for
the usual reasons). Her daughter Mary Ann Tuck born 1860 completes 3
consecutive generations of illegitimacy!

Hello Pat
There was a full page article about Saddlewood in the Times property
supplement yesterday. I don't know whether these go on-line.
Apparently the house is owned by Sandy & Linda SCOTT who bought it with
20 acres and have since expanded this to 172. It doesn't say when they
bought it but a previous owner apparently used half of one tithe barn
(there are two) for his collection of cars. There are 14 outbuildings
including a dovecote with 1000 nesting boxes. I expect that is original.
