Hi Brenda
I appreciate your difficulty, I too have ancestors born in exactly the same
area as you mention, Hadley / Chipping Barnet.
I have yet to discover when they interchange! An associated problem is the
boundary is so close together it becomes extremely difficult to tell the
difference.
In some directories it is listed as Hertfordshire and in others as
Middlesex. On some sites (LDS) it would seem that they do not recognise
Middlesex as a county as on a number of searches it does not show up on
their
Could anyone help me find some information about my Day family from Ippollits in Hertfordshire. I am looking for James and Hannah Day living in Gosmore/Ippollitts. Hannah would be 40 years old. I have them on the 1861 Census but james had already died in 1859 and I would like to see if I can find some information about him and his family.
In anticipation

Hi,
I am trying to find where my grandfather William Stacey may have been
living in Hoddesdon between 1918 and 1928 when my mother was born.
I suspect he was living in Hoddesdon and may be listed as a telephonist in
one or more directories covering that period, Can anyone help please?

Hello Melissa,
There is a marriage listed for a Thomas CAMPKIN on Ancestry in December
quarter 1839 in Hertford reg. district volume 6, page 919, but unfortunately
there are 2 grooms listed and only one bride. However, if you are
subscribed to 1837 online it should be a simple matter to check that
reference under Eliza WALLER and see if they correspond - unfortunately I
have no credit left so can't do it for you.
Good luck,
Janet Booth.

Hi Cassy,
Thanks for your reply... I appreciate it. I'll keep a copy of your CLARK
info. I don't know at this point though if our CLARKs are connected. I now realize
that the Joseph CLARK born @1851 in Aldenham with a sister Susan isn't mine
after all, so I guess that might rule out any connections through the name
Susan. And so far, I don't have the surname FRANKLIN family in my tree... maybe
one day!
Take care,
Susan
If any lister is living in Bushey or even better Bushey Heath at present,

TIA,

(who left Bushey in 1959)
A quick postscript - I found Lydia's baptism in the BVRI as follows:

Hello Susan,
I don't know anything about a Joseph Clark/e born in Tring but I can tell
you that the Joseph Clarke born in Aldenham was the son of James Clarke and
Frances Potten. James and Frances Clark were my husband's 3xg-grandparents.
After James died, Frances married William Hart who was my husband's
3xg-uncle. James and Frances Clark had a daughter called Mary Ann who
married James Hart (my husband's gg-grandparents).
This probably doesn't help you find your Joseph but might help to eliminate
this

Dear Listers,
To save anyone else the trouble of writing, I wanted to let you know that
I've been helped with my two questions on parish churches.
Thank you!

I have two photographs of Old Park Road Hitchin.
One shows the junction with Paynes Park in 1895 and the other portrays
the Waggon and Horses pub on the corner with Tilehouse Street 1970
before the County Court was built.
Are these of any interest?
Hitchin Museum has a grand collection of old photographs which
may include Old Park Road. They allow digital photography and
I beleive they will copy photos for you.

Hello Betsy,
According to Hugh Wallis's IGI site
(http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/), your Henry had at
least 2 siblings. Henry was baptised 10 June 1810 father Henry, mother
Elizabeth, Charles was baptised 27 April 1807 (I assume this Charles died),
Charles was baptised 10 June 1810 and John was baptised 19 May 1811.
According to the 1861 census via Ancestry, this could be John in Holy
Sepulchre, Trinity, Cambridge:
PRO Ref: RG9/1027, folio 106, page 12
Schedule 69, 7 Globe Pass
My ancestors are the CAMPKINs and recently I had an enquiry from someone related to an Eliza CAMPKIN wondering if there was a connection. So far I haven't been able to establish one, but have been provided with some data and would appreciate it if anyone has information on them.
Eliza CAMPKIN married Joseph ASHWOOD 1846 Stapleford. It turns out she was previously married and her maiden name was WALLER, she was born 1816 in Wheathampstead. Eliza and Joseph had several children and my contact is in poss
The church is dedicated to St John the Baptist, according to chapter and

Hi Sherry
Try this site for workhouses
http://www.users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouses/watford
I have telephoned Watford Centra Library and no inmate records survived
but the 1871 census will show all inmates and they have meetings records
but the would mean searching through the records to see if the person you
want is mentioned
I hope this gives some information you require.
