I was wondering if anyone out there is researching the HEATHER family, who
in the 1640's were residing at Chislehurst. Around 1764 they moved to Bexley
and subsequently around 1771 they went to the St. Mary and St. Paul's Cray
area. While in the latter district the Heathers intermarried with the VOLLINS
family, who were living at Orpington in the 1700's.

Does anyone have the name and address of a supplier of non-acidic plastic
document, postcard and photograph pockets for family historians' use?
Is it guaranteed indefinitely, or does everything have a "shelf-life" for
safety?
Pam
I'd also be interested in the answer to this. Many thanks.

To Sylvia Murphy,
Very many thanks for your offer to look for Peter B. on the 1891 Census.
Does your FHC (LDS?) have it for just Kent or the whole country? I would be
very interested to see what it says about his family even if Peter is
absent. The details should be something like this:
Possible Addresses: High St., Broomhill Rd., or Chislehurst Rd., ORPINGTON,
KENT.
Peter BLACKBOURN age ~54, b. IRBY-IN-THE -MARSH, LINCS.
Elizabeth " age ~ 52, b. ORPINGTON, KENT (wife)

I am an new member to this particular FHS and am currently researching the
surname GORMAN in the Frindsbury and Upnor areas. I have note of the family
in Castle Street, Upnor in 1871, a death in 1870 and mention in the 1881
census.
During the 1850's the family were in Mauritius where several children were
born.
I would appreciate it if any members could tell me the names of any 'local'
newspapers which covered the area around 1870, so I may follow up with a
search in the British Museum Newspaper Library.
Good afternoon Maureen
Thank you for your lead suggesting that I contact Lionel Cole:

I am desperate to find the marriage of Elizabeth Ann PENNELL and John
Lee RILEY which I believe took place in Northfleet around 1862/1863.
The records available to me here in Canada are at the LDS Family History
Centres, and although some of the microfiche records are poor, I have
searched the marriages three times now and cannot find my couple. The
record is needed to get the name of Elizabeth's father. Others
researching PENNELL do not have an Elizabeth Ann in their tree.
Can anyone help me or sugges

Hi Robert,
I have not yet received my journal either. However since I have been
receiving overseas mail that has been opened and checked by Quarantine that
could be slowing things down. Heaven knows what they are checking for
- could be anything from Anthrax to CJD; then again in times like these
euphemisms are likely to abound.

It appears that with one exception, the late delivery problem of the Sept

are just late or lost, I have sent all those 10 members another copy. The

Thank you to all those who told me of their safe delivery, in some cases
weeks ago.

TO BOB WOODWARD
This is just an idea of mine, but my husband and I receive a lot of mail from Australia and New Zealand (we used to live in NZ) and since that terrible day - 11th September - we have noticed that some of our mail has not arrived over there and most of the mail we receive has taken at least twice as long as normal to arrive in UK.
On our journeys to and from NZ we have stopped in Los Angels and in the Middle East. I think possibly the mail situation has been chaotic
I could, of course,

I am looking for my great grandmother Ann Tomlinson who was born around 1843 most likely in Deptford. She was in the 1851 census as living in Deptford aged 8.
Her parents were William and Mary (possibly Reynolds). She married Henry George Gilbert and in the 1881 census they lived at 13 Hyde Street, Deptford. The family were:
Henry Edward (my grandfather) - aged 15 - printer
Frederick G - aged 11
Benjamin R - aged 9
Caroline - aged 5
Clara A - aged 4
I cannot find Ann TOMLINS
My grandfather, John Newman PALMER was b. in Swanscombe in 1883. His father was Thomas who m. Sarah Ann BOLTON in 1874 (St. Mary's Stone Rector F W Murray). Sarah's parents were Henry BOLTON b. Dartford 1825 and Sarah WOODWARD b. 1826. Sarah W's father was John WOODWARD.
My grandfather had sisters who married into FIRTH and CHILDS families c. early 20th century.
