I am looking for any information on any Shuttleworth's that were in or near Bury, Lancashier, England around 1748. I am trying to find out who the parents of Phillip Shuttleworth were and who his sibblings were. Phillip was born on June 18, 1748 in Bury, Lancashier, England. His parents came to the USA sometime after his birth and settled for awhile in Charles County, Maryland. He married a Lurana Schmitt between 1774-1776. I am trying to discover if the Girlington family, once the owners of Thurland Castle, and a power in Lancashire, were included in lists of recusant families of England. Sir John Gyrlington, a few years before the civil war, was appointed high sheriff of Lancashire by Charles I but, the story goes, died in battle for the King at Melton Mowbray.
