Further to my listing about this family and Andy and Pippa's helpful
replies, I have just checked the Lancashire BMD site for a marriage of the
above two people.
I'd forgotten about doing this_ ho hum.
Liverpool marriages seem to be complete on the site, one of you might know
better, unfortunately not one up to 1919 from 1900.
I found Daniel Grahamas a single person on the 1901 census, however I
didn't find Elizabeth!!
Elizabeth was last seen in Gloucester in 1891 as far as census are

Hi Pippa
Thank you for the further information.
I'll buy one of the certificates to see what it says.
Much appreciated.

It could be that the marriage "arrangement" was informal & they lived
together for 6 years as a married couple. In some cases though, this would

I have discovered a great place for information on Lancashire. Just go
to google and type in Lancashire online parish clerk project and it
brings up all kinds of information. Did not know it was there until I
stumbled across it. Hope it helps someone.

If you can't find his records on the National Archives site have a
look at Ancestry - they have some service pension records and medal
rolls which might give you some details. But a lot of WW1 records were
lost in WW2 to bomb damage : - ((

Hello,
I am trying to pin down an approximate death date for my
GG-Grandfather. He is listed in the 1900 Gore's Directory as a Slater
and Plasterer. He is in the 1901 census. But by the 1911 census, he
has died as my GG-Grandmother is listed as a Widow.
Does anyone have access to any trade/city directories for Liverpool
for the period between 1902 and 1911?
Or any other suggestions for finding someone in the city?
Looking for:

I tried the tip given here. Managed to get the address, but then when I
tried to get all occupants of the house, I got an error message telling me
to put the surname in.
Has anyone else had problems?
I have followed the instructions.
Hi Anne
Sorry I cannot read! it is not Yorks in 1881
But pretty certainly the same as the 1871 I found, with Occupation holding.

Gday Mary,
The EwardianA-Z & Directory of Liverpool and Bootle was reprinted in three

Possible, yes. Whether or not it was likely is another question. That would
depend on the personal, social and financial circumstances of each party.
What was the occupation of the widower? Would it be likely, given his
occupation, that financial necessity drove him to marriage? How long had he
been a widower? Remember, this was a time when the man of the house was the
breadwinner and the woman usually stayed at home, tending to all matters
domestic. If the widower had three young children to raise w
Dear Margaret,
I am sure the list can and will help, but can you help with the following.
Do you have any idea of a marriage date for the Kettles?
When is the last date that you know they were living?
Any ideas of what happened to the two daughters?
I for one am happy to help, but it would help if we had answers to any of the above.
