There is a website called "Black Sheep" - sorry I don't have the link but a
Google search may find it. I have heard that people get very good results
on the Police from this site, although it may cost a little bit of money.

Would anyone have an idea where two 'cigar makers'would have worked in
Everton in 1891.
And any suggestions where possible records may be kept for such a Company.
Thanks

I looked at the link and discovered that the title "Black Sheep" is a bit of
a misnomer. The coverage is wider. I have a William Gidman who was one of
over twenty miners who died in an explosion in 1881 and I presume it his
inquest that is listed, although you wouldn't know it was that from the
index.

Hello,
On 26th January 1914 the RMS Mauretania was being overhauled in Liverpool.
There was an explosion and four men were killed. One of them was a fitter,
Samuel James GIDMAN. A national newspaper said he was living in Egremont
but gives no more details about him. He was then 27 and in 1901 was living
in Everton with his stepfather John MURRAY, mother Elizabeth and siblings.
I have not found a marriage for him. Perhaps one of you has access to local
newspaper archives and can provide more information
Hello. Could SKS in the Widnes area please help me. My Father Walter Webster born 22/09/1890 served in WW1. I have seen photos of him in Uniform and have a recall of the term Quartermaster Sergeant - how can I find out his regiment etc. Also would like to know if there are any MMI index for Farnworth Church and also Childwall Abbey Church.
Researching - Webster,Wright,Robertson & Grace families all of whom lived in the Widnes area in the 1800 - 1930 period. Some descendants may well still be there. T

Hi To All, can anyone help with a look up of the 1871 census of Ashton
Under Lyne, Lancashire please? I have just received a birth certificate for
Joel DENNERLEY who was born at Victoria Street, Walkmile, Audenshaw in Nov
1865. There is no father's name and the mother was Sarah Ann DENNERLEY. I
could not find a Sarah Ann DENNERLEY in the 1881 Census, so she may have
died or married. However, is a 15 year old Joel DENNERLEY living with
Grandparents in the 1881 Census who may be the one I am looking for,
Hi there II have recently learned that my GGGrandfather died in Strongs Cottages Wallasey. Could SKS either give me any information on these cottages or point me in the right direction.
I spent the first 24 years of my life in the Wallasey area so I have a pretty good recollection of where things are.
